Darko

Post#1 » by pickaxe » Wed Dec 30, 2009 11:21 pm

I know we're not bringing up the topic of Melo/Darko who was the better pick, because that has been answered. But, and this is a big but.....would a driven Darko be that decent backup big that we're looking for? All the friction over his being drafted over Melo would give them something to connect on. Plus he's played with Chauncey.

The price tag a might steep but you can always justify that luxury tax onto someone else on the team. What would be the cost of maybe snagging him for 2-3 years?

I am not familiar with Darko's downsides so don't be too harsh on my suggestion - I'm just looking at motivation and does this guy have the frame to box bigs out.

^He does but his focus is more terrible than J.R. so he gets boxed out constantly as well, and he said he's leaving next season to Europe.

Well that's what I'm saying a little bit - he's leaving for Europe because he can't find a situation for himself here. Sometimes a guy's focus is terrible because he's not motivated - and I'm sure the Nuggets would motivate him. Hell, Kleiza would even help a little just having him there to help rebound and eat minutes here and there.

Besides Darko I would think there are at least a few players that will be seeing things differently as the season wears on. What an easy role to get wrapped up in - just be big and box out, grab rebounds and don't turn the ball over for about 10-15 min per game.

^The problem is that's the role the Pistons, Magic and Knicks have given him and he still sucked ass

He was decent in Orlando, which is what got him the contract he is on now. He also had a couple decent years in Memphis.

The main problem is that contract though. There is absolutely no way we could trade for him, under any reasonable scenario. Sure, we could maybe sign him in the summer(although still not like from the way he talks), but what good does that do us right now? Not to mention his attitude concerns....it really wouldn't be worth it at all.

Jeff Foster is a much better, and more likely option.

Based on what he's said I'm only reading into it that he's tired of playing limited minutes and losing. I could be wrong, and if so.....no biggie anyway, but the role he would be asked to fill would be a very fulfilling one. Attitudes change in the right situation.

Idk it's frustrating always not having a rounded out roster. We compete all the time but always leave it one player short, or we don't play the player on the bench, or we play guys too many minutes - lean on em too much and injuries happen. We need to get some of that Geico and quick.

I think having an extra dose of enthusiasm from a new guy on the roster would help get Ty through these tests the next couple of weeks.

It's still irrelevant when there is absolutely no way we could trade for him right now. Unless you're suggesting we trade one of Nene/JR/Billups/Melo/Kmart for him, which would make your original point about filling that last little hole moot.

Can't package TPEs. Would be nice though.

Even if we could, there is no way we'd take back that much salary without sending any out at this point, so it wouldn't really matter much anyway.
