on side note Sparnarkle better rethink his advice on Nate...sick performance last night...this kid has always had the talent and skills, needs to be restrained from time to time (reality check for his big head, ect...)...but again the Knicks cant afford him to ride the bench...

The way I see it is that Nate is a defenseless energizer off the bench in the mold of a JR Smith (only worse), he's exactly what the Knicks need though so why he wasn't playing is puzzling to say the least... You basically have to live with his extreme bouts of stupidity from time to time.
Early on (and sometimes even now) it was a similar situation with Manu in San Antonio (though he always played defense, flopfense?)...

The Nets tried to pick up Nate...
[quote]Adrian Wojnarowski tweets that before Christmas, the Nets offered Rafer Alston and Tony Battie to the Knicks for Nate Robinson and Darko Milicic. The Knicks, Woj reports, turned the Nets down. Robinson, who scored 41 Friday night, was then in Mike D’Antoni’s doghouse for, among other things, shooting at the Nets basket last month. Milicic has accused NBA GM’s of regularly lying to him. All are expiring contracts.[ /quote]

I would have liked Darko on this team. I know, I know, he's known as a bust, but when given the okay to play and he is confident/wants to play...he's pretty damn good.

I like how you brought Manu in as an example...there is truth to that...
throw out stupidity for now off the court...(I dont think we're talkin Agent Zero level)
you can talk defense all day with me...I love defense, defense wins championships...
but when it all boils down, Nate>C. Lee...he can start on this team (*today) with no problem...
If you look back at the stretch where Nate was sitting, he never said anything (besides his knucklehead agent)...I think he is a good teammate, with questionable shot selection...but can get others involved at the same time...Just as an example (dont think comparison), I think everyone forgets how good AI was and what his presence did for his team (76ers/finals year), just by the attention he draws...(and those sixers teams as hard nose and defensive minded as they were, would have a lot more problems with amount of talent in the league today)...but the Knicks are that much better as a team with Nate on the floor...obviously their player personnel/coach/style of play has a lot to do with it....
you have to think outside the box sometimes...play to your players strengths...as much as JR might be referred to as defenseless chucker, the Nuggets need him...and what he does for that team/role he plays, not many in this league could duplicate...
I think there is only a small group of serious energizers off the bench in the NBA who can provide that much difference-making for their respective teams...

"We're going with him."
The coach said he went to Robinson to help provide an offensive spark.
"We needed an offensive spark because I thought we were sputtering the last four or five games," D'Antoni said. "It seemed like we were slipping.
"I knew he could give us that. I just hope that the intensity, the level of concentration on defense, all of that stays the same. If it does, then he becomes a real good player for us and that's what we need."
