He provides some of the things that the team needs (shooting, athleticism, defence, etc) and could eventually be a starter. Although if Ebanks is a half decent playmaker then he could be intriguing in the triangle.

What do people think of Ekpe Udoh with Utah's pick?

I wouldn't move up for Johnson unless he's picked from 10-13. Look at his age. He is older than half our team. I'd rather just pick Turner who is a year younger and/or move up for Xavier Henry.

Yea, Johnson is waaaaay down on my board. For me it is a 3 man draft of Turner, Wall, Favors. These are our goals with the 1st pick. In that second group we have guys like Henry, Ebanks, Alrdich, Henson etc. We should be able to get 2 quality players here.

Johnson isn't in your 2nd group of players?

I'm just reiterating what DX thinks here, but Elias Harris has to be considered in the 10-20 range this year. Lots of upside. He would make a great SF pick for us.

I like Johnson, but the age and past attitude concerns worry me. He would be in the second group, but towards the bottom. I would struggle to take him if an Ebanks and Henson are on the board. Would I take him or Henry? I wonder if he will be this high up on the mock when the season is done.

I would probably put him at the top of my 3rd group (which blends with the 2nd) with Dont, Sanders, Robinson, Udoh, etc

Dr. K, why do so many people not think he is coming out this year? They have him as #15 in the 2011 draft.

Ebanks and Henson should both go back to college next year...

henson especially, he's too frail for the college game, let alone the nba game. He might need 3 years imo. He's so far away.

I believe that's going to change after today.

DraftExpress: He's so good. And he's only going to get better. RT @kpelton: Huge plays down the stretch from Elias Harris.

DraftExpress: Catching up on Gonzaga vs Illinois. Trying to decide if Elias Harris should be in our 1st round mock draft already this year? Already 20

If it's between him and Henry then it's easily Henry. I just thought that an athletic small forward that looks like a decent shooter like Johnson would be a good fit for the team.

I don't think I'm as high on Ebanks or Henson as you are though. Henson in particular needs another year in college desperately and Ebanks, atleast to me, would mostly replicate what Brewer does for the team. He's a good defender but not a good shooter and while he's more polished then Brewer was coming out he's still far, far from a completed product.

I would love Elias Harris on our team if we can add him with a mid-first.

A german player on our team would be nice. :P

revprodeji wrote:hmm. How is his shot? Not just 3's but his 15-18? I notice that in our offense the SF tends to get that baseline 15-18 a lot.

Could this kid be a big target with the char pick? (ironically dx has him at our pick) I read he is a project, but with potential. Maybe a Warrick/Outlaw cross? Looks good off the bench.

I still feel Turner should be our goal. He would be perfect in this system. But I think that we need 2 wing guys to make the jump and Ebanks might be a nice fit.

btw, right now DX has our draft as

2--Derrick Favors
13--Ebanks
20-Greg Monroe

I hope we consolidate some assets, but I can handle that.

His 15-18 is decent, but inconsistent. Should get better if his improved FT% is any indication. I think he's got a better chance to be a full-time SF than either Warrick or Outlaw. I wouldn't mind him with the CHA pick, but I'd prefer Stanley Robinson, Jan Vesely or maybe the draft darling of the moment, Elias Harris if we go the 3/4 route with that pick.

DX updated their mock. Now they have us going with a Favors/Motiejunas/Vesely 1st round. Not that i think we'd go with 3 guys that could end up playing PF, but if we did that we'd have a ludicrous amount of talent stashed in Europe.

Turner is my goal, as well, if he declares. I don't see that happening, which is disappointing, since that would put him in the 2011 draft, and I've already been getting hyped on Perry Jones for that draft.

Has anyone seen James Anderson play? Seems pretty athletic and is compared to Derrick Anderson. I think saying we could use the modern Derrick Anderson on this team is an understatement.

Rumor has it Wes is really good friends with Flynn. Not sure what that is worth, but for chemistry concerns it would be good to note. One of my issues with Wes is **whatever** happened before the transfer and his age. If he is good friends with Flynn there is less a chance he would be a chemistry issue.

Oh, Greg Monroe is constantly bouncing from 2 and 3 for me.. He would be a nice 3rd big and I think he would fit great in this system. He is well coached and very smart, but a below average athlete

There has been nothing made about Johnson's character at all besides the multiple transfers. Nothing but glowing reviews from his current coaches. The biggest concern with him IMO would be his age. But it's not like at 23 years old is over the hill. Especially considering he's ready to play now.

He shares the top of tier 2 for me with Henry.

I got a feeling 1 of xavier or favors will come back to school.

Favors in a video b4 year said he would come back if he didn't dominate, he's clearly not dominating. So we'll see. He could use more college, he's pretty raw, and has no outside game at all.

Maybe Xavier comes back also, aldrich and sherron will be gone, he could be the man there, and get more touches. He often isnt the focal point of the KU offense, and stands a lot around the 3 point line waiting for the ball. I'm not saying he's lazy, but that's just KU's approach, all 5 guys have their role and can score.

I just don't think its a foregone conclusion they both enter.

I doubt Henry sticks around. Before he even showed up in Lawrence his father was saying Xavier would only be there for a year. As I've been saying, I think Turner's a much better bet to stick around an extra year than people think.

nah Turner is gonna go.

Unless his injury is very limiting and he's not 1/2 the player he was before. Otherwise he's to good to not go into the draft and pass up the top 10 2 yrs in a row.

He's due back Jan 9th against the gophers, which would give him a TON of season to round into shape and show his wears. I think he's a mortal lock to go pro unless his injury sidelines him

He's good enough, but I don't think his team is this year. He passed up a chance to go top 6 or so last year to return to a team picked to finish in the upper middle class of the Big Ten. With the Buckeyes recruiting class next year being pretty loaded and bringing in reinforcements to the interior. Given what he and those around him have said in the past, I don't see Turner leaving a team that should be in the running for a title. The only way I see him leaving is if the injury spooks him.

I hope he enters, I just have trouble seeing it happen given the context clues (once again, unless the injury spooks him). If you've got anything besides "he's too good" that points to him entering I'd love to see it. It would brighten my day.
