Patrick Willis

Post#1 » by Harry Palmer » Tue Nov 13, 2007 4:10 am

With all the (justifiable) talk Peterson's freshman campaign has been getting, and with the Niners sucking tailpipe, Patrick Willis' exceptional rookie season has been largely ignored.

Do you guys realize he is leading the NFL in tackles?

Guy's a stud.

Also, Niners fans need something less-than-depressing to talk about, so please share your thoughts.

He's a phenomenal player. Very fast, and at times very instinctive. He's a sideline-to-sideline player.
At times, when I'm watching him, he remind me a bit of Keith Bulluck, just a fast player who gets to the action very quickly. But at times can be shed very easily by a good blocker.

Football Outsiders did a EPC (Every Play Counts) run down of him earlier in the year. You should check it out:

i was at the draft and when the 49ers picked him i said to everybody around me that was the smartest and most underrated pick so far and everybody agreed with me. he is going to be the leader of that defense and one of the best at his position for a long time to come.

The only time I've seen him play was a preseason game and he was freakin all over the place. I'm not surprised by his success so far after watching that game.

False.

What do mean "false"? As in he didn't spell the name right or that DeMeco isn't going to be one of the future stars of the league? I mean considering he received defensive player of the year last year even though he had the 1st overall pick playing in front him, and that he came 2nd in number of tackles last year as a 2nd round pick, I think he has quite a future ahead of him.

I wasn't aware DeMeco won defensive player of the year. Did he steal it from Jason Taylor?

I think DeMeco is a good player - not a star. Next.

I meant the Defensive rookie of the year.
