Re: 2010 Draft prospects
That's it. I'm sold on this Dexter guy. I'll give him a 3rd-5th round pick depending when I could get him.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
So like i said in the other thread, we have the #2 pick. Lets pray St. Louis falls in love with Clausen. If Best is around in the second, i would have a hard time passing on him. Kid can play. If we miss on him, i wouldnt mid Dexter. I dont know much about him, but if what Bartender is raving about is even part true, we could use that

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Why not? He's a very good OG, and OG was probably one of our worst positions this season....
I'd rather have him at OG than Backus....

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Backus isn't our OG, and if we were to get an OG, I'd rather get them in FA or later rounds. Patrick Robinson and Javier Arenas would be my ideal 2nd and 3rd rounders..

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Didn't you post earlier in one of your draft scenarios, that you'd draft a couple OTs and move Backus to OG?
Part of me partially agrees with you - draft all defense? Maybe...
The other part of me wants to draft mostly defense, with some offense (OG and RB)....
Either way, I'm happy with our ability to find defensive gems in the later rounds - see Delmas, Levy, Hill, and Follett from last season's draft.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Delmas and Levy were taken in the 2nd and 3rd round. Hardly later round gyms.
And yes, I do think Backus could play guard a hell of a lot better then tackle. He's not THAT bad at blocking. He's smart at least. He's just not athletic enough to be the blind side protector. I HONESTLY think that he could excel at LG.
For a 2nd rounder, I honestly want either Patrick Robinson or Javier Arenas (Since there's no way we're getting him in the 3rd round). Whoever is available between them 2, we HAVE to draft. I think I like Patrick Robinson more. He's tall, fast, and physical as all hell.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
I think Iuputi would be a great addition. We could still move Backus to guard and put the new guy at RG. Or keep Backus around for another season til we reeplace him. Or just cut the moron

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Anybody desperate enough for an OT to trade us their 2nd rounder for Backus? Then we could draft Iutupi AND Patrick Robinson....HA
Seriously though, does anyone have two (or more) 2nd round picks in this draft? We could trade down from #34 and try to get both of these guys....

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
NE and Tampa Bay both has 2 2nd round picks.
And from what I've seen, NE will be looking for a guard in the first round.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
I wanna keep our number 34. I seriously want want want Patrick Robinson. A guy like that is a once in a decade type player at CB. He's a LB in a CB body. The guy is absolutely a monster hitter and athletic as all hell.

And if we draft a RB in the later rounds, it better be Dexter McCluster lol

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
A saftey duo of Delmas/Chancellor would be great IMO....
I doubt McCluster does anything in the NFL outside of kick returns....perfect college scat back though.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
The perfect safety duo that has Delmas in it is a coverage safety ala Eric Berry.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
I am leaning toward taking an RB in this draft even more now that I searched for RB's that might be available in next season's draft - very few good ones per nfldraftscout.com.
Another sleeper pick in this draft might be Stafon Johnson out of USC. He'll be playing in the Senior Bowl - will have to watch to see how he does.
