All-Decade team

Post#1 » by treiz » Mon Jan 4, 2010 12:53 pm

Who'd be your All-Decade team?

* - Honorable mention

QB: Peyton Manning (tough between him and Brady, but ultimately chose Manning)
RB: Ladainian Tomlinson (Priest Holmes*, Curtis Martin*)
FB: Lorenzo Neal, (Mike Alstott*, Tony Richardson*)
WR: Marvin Harrison, Torry Holt, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss
TE: Tony Gonzalez, (Antonio Gates*)
T: Orlando Pace, Johnathan Ogden, (Walter Jones*)
G: Alan Faneca, Steve Hutchinson, (Will Shields*)
C: Kevin Mawae, (Olin Kreutz*)

DE: Richard Seymour, Julius Peppers, (Jason Taylor*, Michael Strahan*)
DT/NT: La'Roi Glover, Kevin Williams, (Warren Sapp*, Jamal Williams*)
OLB: Derrick Brooks, Keith Bulluck, (Junior Seau*, Julian Peterson*)
MLB/ILB: Ray Lewis, (London Fletcher-Baker*)
CB: Champ Bailey, Chris McAllister, (Ronde Barber*)
S: Ed Reed, Brian Dawkins, (Troy Polamalu*)

K: Adam Vinatieri
P: Shane Lechler

HC: Bill Belichick
OC: Howard Mudd (How else can you explain Colts' offensive dominance this decade?)
DC: Dick Lebeau (Would've gone with Johnson, but Lebeau won 2 championships this decade)

I'd take Brady over manning
I'd take Taylor and Strahan over Seymour and Peppers

Everything else I agree with for the most part.

Yeah, the Peppers over Strahan and Taylor was close IMO, but the only reason why I chose Seymour over the rest is that, he was the main piece in those championship winning Patriot teams, he played his position to the highest level the whole time he was in NE. It was sad to see him go to Oakland, and even then he was still dominating.

Other reasons include Taylor kinda declined after he won DPOY and went to Washington, even now he's not as dominating as he used to be, I know 7 sacks is still quite a good amount of sacks, but it's not the Jason Taylor of old. Strahan, on the other hand I just never saw as dominating as the other 3 guys, although in all fairness, this was REALLY REALLY close. It was hard to pick one from Taylor, Strahan and Peppers but ultimately went with Peppers.
