I love watching Rodgers. I didn't know he was THIS tough. He has been a joy to watch, I love the plays he makes with his feet, and it seems like he is getting rid of the ball earlier instead of taking sacks, which should greatly reduce his chance to be injured on those plays. He can only get better and he has been great thus far. We are LUCKY!

Not a fan of qb Rating either. Its a decent stat to use but it really makes 'game managers' look good.

I can't think of teams where their core of top 7 playmakers hung together more than four or five years before you needed to get a new core. Players like Woodson and Driver are still impact players at an advanced age but won't be beyond another season or two.

I think you're loony Press. Keep going the course, don't overspend in FA and draft well. Rodgers has 10 good years left in him. If you draft well, then you worry about money, but worry about using it to keep your own players. Those are the teams that win. If FA splashes led to wins, then the Redskins would be owning everyone.

That isn't to say I wouldn't look to add uber impact guys (see Reggie White), but you don't spend in FA just for the sake of it. Ever.

I think we just need some consistency on the line, not changing it ever year with schemes and players.

I was really surprise when I sorted by yards and saw who had the most and by how much.

I just looked it up and that's 6th all-time.

If I was a fan of any other team I'd be pissed, especially if I was a Bears or Vikings fan.

The Packers have Brett Favre for 16 years,Favre retires/leaves and now the Packers are going to have Aaron Rodgers for at least the better part of this upcoming decade.

The fact we can even compare Rodgers in his second year as a starter to one of the best seasons by one of the best QBs to ever put on an NFL uniform has me pretty excited about the future.

The amazing thing about his season was his durability with the number of hits he took as well as the lack of interceptions and fumbles with the amount of hits he took and the amount of pressure he faced.

How did he only have 7 picks and 0 fumbles lost? He had the lowest INT% in the league.

Edit: I was wrong. He had 10 fumbles and 4 lost. Stupid ESPN.

What Rodgers has done, in just his second season as a starter, is absolutely remarkable.

I don't think you can ever just take sets of stats for a season by different players who played at different times and say one was better than the others without any context. Starr played at a different time that Brett/Rodgers and Brett in 1996 had different circumstances than Rodgers had this year. I did a quick check, this year

An incredible 10 quarterbacks threw for 4000 yards this season. Only 3 did in 1996.

For various reasons, the NFL of today has morphed completely into a passing league because it's easier today to have success throwing a ton. Hell, a very mediocre talent like Kyle Orton threw for 3800 yards.

In 1996, not a single QB finished with a passer rating over 100.0, this year six quarterbacks did if you include Manning who was at 99.9. Matt Schaub this year had higher passer rating than anyone in 1996, including Steve Young and Favre. Schaub isn't a better quarterback than them.

Plus, Rodgers has a better WR core to throw to.

Jennings is more talented than Freeman ever was
Driver i think is a little better than Brooks was and he got hurt after 7 games
Bebee had a great year in 96, but like Bill Schroeder, Favre made them both look good. Jones/Jordy are more skilled than Bebee/Mickens.

Favre did have a great TE duo though in Jackson/Chmura, but Finley is a better talent than either were in 96. Levens/Bennett out of the backfield were good receiving threats, but surprisingly didn't have many more receiving yards than Grant/Jackson. Brett's TD numbers were inflated a bit by how much Holmgren threw inside the 5 yard line.

I obviously never watched Starr play a game. It's amazing that in his best year, he threw for only 2257 yards and 14 touchdowns. What a vastly different game it was back then.

Rodgers has no doubt had a fabulous year and still has the playoffs to further put a stamp on the season. Maybe if he plays great and we get at least to the Super Bowl, i'd consider it to be the best year. Right now it certainly ranks up somewhere up there there though.
