Nets trying to trade with Dallas and Denver

Post#1 » by Preludepunk27 » Tue Jan 5, 2010 11:46 am

Discussions for a trade that would’ve exchanged Eduardo Najera for Kris Humphries and Shawne Williams are “on life support,” a league source said, because the New Jersey Nets have been unable to clear a roster spot to make it happen. New Jersey had hoped the Dallas Mavericks would add some money to the deal to allow them to buy out Williams’ contract, but the Nets haven’t been able to make a roster move. They tried to trade former first-round pick Josh Boone to Denver for Joey Graham and his non-guaranteed deal as a precursor to the Dallas deal, but those talks dried up, too.

It's not a bad deal for the Nets honestly because Shawne Williams comes off the books and Kris Humphries has a team option. They could end up getting more cap-space because of it.

After seeing Durant the other night, going after him in 2011 is more realistic.

Unless Lebron says I WANT TO BE A NET!!!, durant should be our target. I hope the Nets dont waste money on second tier FAs in 2010.

Durant isnt going to be much easier to get...besides us moving to a big market and the sort of draw...it wont be much easier than getting Lebron...KD is sick...would love to see him lined up with Brook and Yi w/ him at SF...

But seriously...would you be that pissed off if we could pull Boozer and Joe Johnson...something like that...

Jac, I would be pissed if they pay these guys max deals when they are second tier FAs. I would prefer drafting young guys or trading for young guys. If we get Wall, all we would really need is a PF/C that can defend and rebound to come off the bench or eventually push Yi to the bench.

Wall
Lee
CDR or Twill
Yi or Rebounding/Defending PF
Lopez

That line up is fine with me. Once you put a very good coach in the mix. I dont mind watching the young guys. I DVR every game now. I would rather save the money to pay guys like Lopez and Wall. Then to waste it on Boozer and J. Johnson.

Another thing. Boozer scores most of his points in the Utah Pick and Roll. The Nets Pick n Roll is ineffective. Harris doesnt know how to create space on Pick n Rolls. he is pulling the same $hit VC used to do with when he used to get Picks. Either the man guarding Lopez or Yi gets back defensively or Lopez or Yi gets a stupid Offensive foul because Harris keeps faking like he is being fouled at the top of the key.

So Denver who desperately needs a 4th big turned down Graham for Boone?

Pretty (Please Use More Appropriate Word) on Denver's part.

thank the heavens you are not a gm. youd rather have wall, cdr and yi instead of harris, joe johnson and boozer? joe johnson is a stud. he is by no means a second tier FA. he doesnt have the flashyness of lebron or wade, but he can flat out ball. and boozer is far superior to yi. i like the progress yi has made since returning from his injury, but boozer is down right more physical and confident.

yeh I wont say these guys are on LJ/Wade's level and I understand the Durant thing...but, if we could get these guys at the very least, would put a nice team together...I'm not saying this is ideal or what I want...but I'd be pretty damn content...if we are talking ultimate scenarios obviously there are others...

I'm not saying I dont want Wall either, but we'll have enought room/our Front office will make sure we have enough room to sign our first round pick(s)...obviously this will be considered when signing any FA and I dont think it will prevent us from being able to sign that top 10 pic, ect...

I'll take a Joe Johnson hold the Boozer please.I've been a JoeJohn fan since his early days with the Suns and he is a stud no doubt about it.Booz is good but i just don't think he can stay healthy enough thru a long term deal.

Johnson = VC all over again and i'm fine with that.

Yeah Boozer is physical and confident but he is also injury prone (51 gms 04-05, 33 gms 05-06, 37 gms 08-09), his 29 years old, he is currently making $12+mil (Most likely wants $10+mil), and there will be other teams bidding for his services.

As for Wall, IMO I rather his personality and skill sets(pass first, vision, athleticism) over Harris'. Whoever is coaching this team next year will have an influence on this kid. Where Harris has been spoiled by Frank.

As for Joe Johnson, I dont mind his game. I just have an issue with paying him.

Signing Durant in 2011 isn't realistic at all. He's restricted and Oklahoma would match ANYTHING to keep the guy.

Signing Lebron/Wade/Bosh is a pipe dream, I'd rather be realistic and I'd be ecstatic if we were able to land both boozer and Johnson. You add a top 3 pick, hopefully Wall so we could deal Harris for a SF and we're a top 3 team in the east IMO.

Lopez
Boozer
whoever we get for Harris or CDR
Johnson
Wall

well that was my thought process...

You know me I rarely talk about draft prospects...Wall is it, though...I would be very pleased if we could draft, I am not sure if he is starting off the bat for us....why cant we keep both? and if you are going to talk trade w/ DH & CDR, I want to kow what teams and what players...

What about these:

Harris for Rudy gay in a S&T.
Harris for Kevin martin though I doubt Sacto does it.
Harris for Tayshaun Prince.

And I didn't mean trade CDR, I meant he would start at the 3 if we failed to sign/trade for a SF.

gotcha...

Rudy is appealing...Martin is brittle...and Prince, though he has a great game, doesnt do much for me...I like to see him play with DH...

Wall is just so young to put all that on his shoulders...still giving Harris the benefit of the doubt with his play...His consistency sux...lets see what happens tonight...

Prince would be someone I'd go after if we landed Joe Johnson and Boozer. He's a great glue guy on the win...but, honestly, I know he doesn't have the wing span like Prince, but I see CDR filling that role very well if he had 2 all-stars players at the 2 and 4 (plus Brooksy and John Wall lol).

exactly...I'm not against Prince...and I agree, CDR could do a lot of what Prince does...
