Rafer Alston anyone?

Post#1 » by TonyMontana » Tue Jan 5, 2010 11:14 pm

So Rafer got bought out and we need a point gurad. I actually like this guy and he has done well with the Rockets and the Magic.

What do you guys think?

Rafer Alston has agreed to a contract buyout with the Nets.

The Heat is the early favorite to sign the point guard after he clears waivers. The Cavaliers and a number of other clubs are expected to show interest in Alston as well.

In a separate move, the Nets will acquire Chris Quinn, the Heat's second round pick in 2012 and cash in exchange for a trade exception.

im sure if you ask both sets of fans (especially rockets one), that they hate rafer because he kept chucking himself into 2-11 games

BUT when hes on, hes on. hes at best a streak shooter, but being a veteran, hed be a better defender than farmar or brown...

im not sold on rafer. ill wait for more buyouts

I don't see a value add with him given our current stable of guards.

If we were to trade one or more of Farmar, Brown and Sasha then I'd be for it.

I would kick Sasha to the curb for Alston but I rather have Farmar, Brown and Fisher than Alston. I just don't like his game or attitude.

Is he much better than Fisher? I don't think so. His shot is streaky and his defense is nothing to talk about. I'd rather five those minutes to Farmar & Brown. I like picking up veterans who can play but Rafer is not an answer to our squad.

I'd pass. Rather just play Shannon. Still not sold on Farmar, he always plays well at this time of the year, and than starts playing like **** again after the allstar break

he's a decent pg who can run a team and can shoot the 3. However, I think in order for him to play his game at its best, he need significant minutes. Given PJ s man crush on 3 and the pecking order that's been established amongst the guards, there are no minutes available.

now if Mitch can find a taker for Sasha girl in exchange for a can of tuna, pick him up. Shannon can get his minutes and we can ride _ Fish, far and Reefer at the point.

I'm with everybody that says get him.........hell what do we have to lose?

My belief is that he can come here and maybe function a little better than he has in other places because he's had to be a major cog in the program. Here he wouldn't have to produce much, just be decent on defense, hit the open J once in a while.

My only fear is that there is some kind of unspoken limit of guys you can get from the streets of NY. After so many they can't help it, they start playing NY style street ball.

LO, Artest and Alston start just talking trash and playing street style D.... ignoring the refs until all are fouled out in the 1st quarter and Kobe starts thinking he is back at Rucker!!!!
