wade, bynum, youre talking about a superstar for a sub-all-star...

of course anyone would do that deal.

why dont you try trading bynum for a similarly talented little man with "star potential" like rajon rondo??

i doubt youd be so quick to trade bynum

this.

Of course not. I agree that you never trade a big for a small when they are on equal like grounds. However, if you can find a small who is on a higher level for your big, than I say go for it. Example trades would be Bynum and another fairly okay talent for a player like a Derrick Rose or a Chris Paul. It's not outside the realm of possibily that some team out there would take the chance and accept this kind of trade for Bynum if their PG ever so demanded a trade. The problem with trading Bynum for a point guard wouldn't be that the point guard is small, the reason we wouldn't do the trade is probably because the Point guard isn't good enough. If the point guard is good enough, I see absolutely no basketball reason to reject that trade when you have plenty of size on your roster and proven to win a championship without the piece you are about to trade.

In your post you addmited that the first thing you look at in such a trade is player skill, then the 2nd thing you look at is how big someone is? You just proved that skill factor can outweigh size. That's my point. True I provided an extreme example, but there are players worse than Wade I'd also trade for in a similar light, because they are similar better. You just have to know where to draw the line, and you can't make a blanket statement that you can never trade a big for a small. If the statement isn't absolute, I dont see the point in putting weight to it. "Never trade a big for a small....exceptttttt....."

I can post probably 10 exceptions of "small's" (Guards) I'd take for bynum that no lakers fan would protest. if there are THAT many exceptions to Red's statement, then it clearly shouldn't be looked at like some amazing and grandeur guideline.

I apologize for being wordy, and I don't mean to be too arguementative. I'm just trying to say that, that I agree we should hesitate to trade Bynum for a guard, but if we can find a deal for an elite guard, I see no problem with doing it. That's all.
