Why would NJ do that?

NJ wouldn't consider that.

It's going to be interesting to see what they do if they win the draft lottery. Would they play a 2 pg offense or would they put Harris on the trade market?

^ i think he is assuming that NJN is going to get Wall in the draft and a top free agent in the summer.
Brook/Yi/Marvin/Wade or Joe/Wall

but actually it is really hard to get the #1 pick just because you have the worst record. i think it has only been a couple of times that the team with the worst record got the #1 pick. most likely the Nets will still be get a top 3 pick and atleast get a young PF. better for them to hold onto Harris now and see what happens.

1st point - BYC on Marvin.
2nd point - Outside of winning the lottery, the next PG on the draft board is projected in the 20s so any assumption of surplus would be very premature.
3rd point - If they do decide to blow up their core prior to the draft lottery then it is likely they would like to get expiring contracts and future picks to get far enough under the cap to pitch 2 star free agents on playing together. Without that unifying possibility (or the top pick) they aren't exactly an attractive destination for a single max free agent. (I think this is a risky move, but replacing a lightning fast guard with a combo forward won't help them in free agency either).
4th point - If they do win the draft lottery then the options (PF?) will be better for moving Harris if they are so inclined. And if they choose to keep him, Wall, Harris, and Lee would be a potent 3 guard rotation.

How about Amare to ATL for Josh Smith + expiring? Who's with me?

Uhm I was riding that rumor all summer. Still kind of bummed over it despite Amar'e working back from months of inactivity and Josh damn near averaging 15,8, 5, and 5.

Amare is averaging 22 and 8 plus still improving from the eye injury. I would love to see Smith and Nash in a pick-n-roll situation and i love his defense and athleticism running the floor. I know it was explored last offseason but w/o a sign and trade it's tough to move Amare unless the recieving team will extend him. I think it would be a good fit for both teams. Amare + Hortford lookout and Smith in our system lookout :D
