Celtics vs Heat VC

who gets it

i added doc rivers, although i personally dont think coachs should get VC's, and apparently it wiped out all the votes so you will have to vote again. Sorry i didnt realize that would happen.

I'm going to go with Pierce, all because of that nice pass to Rondo.

The timekeeper that tried to give Miami extra time after the Pierce airball...but instead gave us the 600 msec that we needed!

I refuse to vote, on anybody not named Doc Rivers. Without that play call, we don't win.

I say that cigar goes to Rondo who keeps getting better and better, VS. TEAM (every starter over 16 points) or DOC RIVERS for drawing up that last play which the Truth-Rondo executed to perfection!

Paul is limping, guys. You try putting up a line of 17 points 6R 6A 2 weeks after you have a bucket of pus drained from your knee several times, and have been loaded with a ton of antibiotics - which I am guessing included vancomycin for MRSA. It takes a hell of alot longer than 2 weeks to fully recover from septic arthritis. The Truth proves again that he is one tough ****. If you want to understand what septic arthritis is, read the "Pierce knee thread" where I have been inserting medical information for 2 weeks. It was very serious ****. He could have lost his entire career to a knee replacement if it was not handled so fantastically by his docs in Boston.

And I LOVE RAY when he spots up and shoots the dagger. However, Al Haqq is right. He should not handle the goddam ball, especially in crunch time. They gave him the ball that DWade stole from him in 3 seconds BECAUSE Paul is out of sync and limping.

Rondo was amazing.

Sheed was great, Perk was great, Ray hit two clutch threes at the end.

I don't think Pierce played all that well- given his usual play, certainly not close to getting the cigar from me- but its understandable since he's just getting his legs back. He did, however, provide leadership, and threw a spot-on perfect pass to Rondo.

Great coaching by Doc/Thib as well- double teaming Wade towards the end of regulation, attacking Chalmers on offense, and of course the last play call...

Love the mental toughness of the team, Pierce was a warrior out there.

bball Were you a fan after Paul had a great season back in 00-01 after suffering a pneumothorax and almost bleeding to death after he was stabbed a month before the season started? Or back in 05 or 06 when Amare knocked out his front teeth on a Wed, he has 12 hours of oral surgey on a Thurs, and then scores 30 points on a Friday? He is one tough **** with heart - aside from his elite talent.

Rondo by a landslide. If Doc wouldn't have called the oop play, Rondo would have done it for him. In fact, Rondo said after the game that as soon as Wade dunked the ball and he saw .6 left on the clock, he knew they were going to run the oop play. Rondo's a smart dude and he knew exactly what Doc was going to do.

Not only that, but then Rondo went out and dominated overtime.

Has anyone had *two* near-miss career enders like this? Like you said in the other thread, a huge save by the team doctors. But terrifying to think about what could have happened.

Can you think of any other players that had 'near-misses' like this, but with basically no ill effects? It seems like a unique situation with regards to injury and illness.

Did you ever think about being a team doctor when you were growing up? I think that kind of fantasy was in the back of my head when I first started leaning towards pre-med.

I cannot think of anyone. Paul is luckier than hell that he got outstanding medical care immediately after the stabbing 10 years ago (Tony Battie drove him like a bat out of hell to the ER - otherwise he was dead meat from the pneumothorax or exanguination), and to prevent the need for a knee replacment 2 weeks ago; it does not hurt that he is one tough **** also. :)

I always knew that I would either be an endocrinologist or ID or some non-procedural academic subspecialist within internal medicine. I never could be a surgeon, or even god forbid a radiologist. I am too cerebral and OCD. LOL. But on the other hand, you make alot more money than I do.

Rondo, of course.

The playcall was an fairly obvious one in that situation, as you don't *really* have time to catch and shoot. Executing the playcall a different matter entirely, however.

Rondo was the best player, he made the clutch plays and he won the game.

You could throw a rock from that dive on Kneeland St that he got stabbed in and hit the ER of NE Medical Center. Playing up that heroic drive to the hospital was the best part of the Beyond the Glory piece on Pierce, lol.

I refuse to vote for Doc. He can call any play he wants, it comes down to the players executing, and Rondo did just that. I've been critical on how he always gets voted for because of how he fills up the stat sheet, but he won us this game and deserves it.

By the same token I've refused to blame Doc in the past for many player's failures on the court.

I voted for Sheed. Reason being, what he did tonight is the exact reason we picked him up. KG insurance. He fouled out and Perk, Rondo and maybe Paul or Ray had better games plus that huge play at the end of reg., but he's got big shoes to fill and he did an admirable job in this game on both ends.

And do you see how well he shoots threes when he's composed and not rushing it?

The play call by Doc just canceled out the terrible play call he made just seconds earlier by inbounding to Ray Allen.

I went with Rondo. Feel like I've said that a lot this season.

Rajon Rondo, Ray, and Perk were great. Voting Rondo tonight.
