Back Up PF Wont Come From Waivers/FA's

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Wed Jan 6, 2010 6:42 pm

Interesting. Means that if we do get one, it would have to be through trade?

i hope this doesnt stop us from taking a look at pops, he could really give our bench a spark and maybe even challenge diaw at the pf spot.

I'd take a look at Pops on a 10 day for sure. It would allow UPS to back up Crash at the 3 rather than Boris at the 4.

Of course that would mean LB playing UPS over Hulk.

Every comment made, either by Higgins or Brown, is very specific about who they are NOT looking for, which is 10 day free agents and D-Leagers (SPECIFICALLY INCLUDING THE FRENCH BEAN AJINCA). To me that means they are looking for a trade for a proven player now with a team. Doesn't mean they'll get one. I doubt anything gets done prior to the trade deadline range.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

i know everyone LOVES nazr, but last year would would have done anything to trade him. now that he has shown he still has some worth, maybe once (and if healthy) TC gets back we could look at moving nazr to a team looking to shed some future salary in exchange for a decent pf.

And while Coach Brown is at it, we need to assure ourselves of at least a "middle 10" first round draft pick for the upcoming draft. There is just too much tall talent available to be left out of the action until round two, pick forty-something.

Only problem is, it doesn't help us RIGHT NOW.

:o :o :-? :-? I tend to agree with Fatlever and trading Nazr is an option depending on what we get in return? Any ideas Fatlever who that PF might be? You been on this board a long time and your opinion is valued?

The thing that I found most striking is that LB says something one day and then our GM says something a little different the next.

Are they not communicating with each other?

Agreed. If we can get back into the mid-late 1st and land a guy like Brackins I think it would be a GREAT year for us (playoffs and a scoring PF in the draft)

I just looked thru the articles and I could have missed something or Bonnell didn't quote him directly and it's implied...but the only mention I saw about finances and Brown was a Bonnell quote:

"I've thought all along we've needed somebody to back up Boris (Diaw at power forward). I don't think because the guarantee date is coming up, that will make any difference at all,'' Brown said pre-game today. "There are a lot of guys out there you could have brought in anyway, without a guarantee.''

The Bobcats have an open roster spot, but appear reluctant to spend any additional payroll on adding a player. So adding a power forward would likely require trading another player. Brown has some input on player-personnel, but not final say.

Either way, both LB & Higgins are saying they don't see anyone that isn't signed that would help, so the money issue is moot I guess...except the extra 2 million we could possibly take back in a trade.

LB is also saying he doesn't want to trade anyone...which is pretty shocking knowing his history. Guess that could change next week tho.

Nazr/Law for Nagera/Yi/Boone

No problems ever seeing the Bobcats again.
