With Gil's suspension, can we bring someone in on a 10-day w/o having to cut someone?

Ernie should buy-out Crit and bring in Curtis Stinson or Lester Hudson before Utah or another teams snaps them up.

I don't think you can do anything with Crit until the situation has been resolved. If his involvement according to the current stories can be confirmed, I think his contract could and should be voided.

Good point, why pay him if he comes off the books gratis. This could could drag-out for the remainder of the season though.

We need to hang on to Crittenton if at all possible. It doesn't seem like much, but his $1.5 million expiring contract is actually pretty handy in making salaries line up in potential trades. Sure, that doesn't do much to help us win games, but at this point, does that really matter? Our season is effectively over.

How about a package involving Haywood to OKC for Eric Maynor?

The toothpick? I think we need to get more for Haywood. I'd go with CCJ's pick. Bynum's worked out great for Detroit. Maybe Stinson's the next Bynum.

I like your thinking and YES, we should be able to get a pretty good return for Wood.

Just a couple of ideas I like...

Haywood to POR for Bayless, Outlaw
Haywood enables POR to move Howard out from the starting C position. I think I saw LR post this one somewhere on this board.

Haywood, Stevenson to NOR for Collison, Wright, Peterson
Haywood gives NOR another solid C and insurance for Okafor. They also can et him walk at season's end and get him off the books. We get a decent PG prospect in Collison and potential replacement for Butler in Wright. Stevenson and Peterson are essentially a wash. I read here that West and Okafor may also be available due to NOR's cap situation. Not sure I like Okafor's salary, but I've always been a fan. West, not really too high on him either. Always thought he was just very lucky to be teamed with CP3.

Jordan Farmar, DJ Mbenga, and Sasha Vujacic for Stevenson, Oberto, Crittenton and/or McGuire.

Good for the Wiz because they get a REAL PG prospect in Farmar (James will be traded and I'd sit Boykins in favor of Farmar) and Mbenga is a legit, athletic, shotblocking, rebounding center.

Bad for Wiz because it costs about an extra million or so to lose Stevenson in favor of Vujacic (he sucks too), Mbenga commits alot of fouls, and Farmar may or may not be any better than Foye or Boykins (although I think he is).

Good for Lakers because it saves about a million dollars and they get a good defender in Stevenson.

Bad for Lakers because Stevenson can't shoot straight, Oberto is garbage, Crittenton may not ever get a chance to play again, and all these guys may mess up their chemistry.

Two words - Ramon Sessions

Go get him, Ernie.
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Bring back Dee Brown, he rans things up-tempo and the dude knew how to set-up our big-men for oops! I say that half-jokingly, but we really need a PG badly.

Because we strive for mediocrity and need another ball hog and defensive matador.
