Strikeforce - 1/30 (Diaz/Zaromskis, Cyborg, Lashley, Walker)

Post#1 » by CPT » Sat Dec 19, 2009 11:20 am

Just read that the next Strikeforce show, January 30, 2010 in Miami has a main event, and it's an awesome one.

Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis for the Strikeforce WW Title

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/tem ... 9&zoneid=2

That's a really cool matchup, and one worthy of the WW Title. I like Diaz to take it though.

This show will also have Cyborg defending her women's 145 lb title, and Herschel Walker and Bobby Lashley making their Strikeforce debuts.

Wouldn't be surprised if they work Robbie Lawler onto this show as well.

Robbie get a new opponent since Prangley dropped out yet? They should just move him to this card.

He's not fighting at the event tonight. It only makes sense that he gets a fight on the next event.

Hopefully his original opponent, Benji Radach, will be ready to go by then. If not, maybe Trevor Prangley will be.

It will be nice to see Nick with a belt.

Is he on bad terms with Dana White ? I'd like to see Nick in the WW division in UFC, and his little bro is in UFC.

Bobby Lashley is fighting Yohan Banks and Herschel Walker is fighting Greg Nagy. It's unfortunate for Lashley that he isn't fighting someone with a higher skill level.

Main card-
Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis (for vacant welterweight title)
Champ Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos vs. Marloes Coenen (for women's featherweight title)
Robbie Lawler vs. Melvin Manhoef
Bobby Lashley vs. Yohan Banks
Greg Nagy vs. Herschel Walker

PRELIMINARY CARD (un-aired)
Jay Hieron vs. Joe Riggs
Pablo Alfonso vs. Marcos da Matta
Sabah Homasi vs. John Kelly
David Gomez vs. Craig Oxley

Awesome!

Maybe I'm just stating the obvious, but this card beats the **** out of UFC 109.

BIg news-

Florida Turns Down Yohan Banks as Bobby Lashley's Opponent

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the event that heavyweight Yohan Banks (2-1 MMA, 2-0 SF) was not approved by the Florida State Boxing Commission as an opponent for Bobby Lashley (4-0 MMA, 0-0 SF), and the former WWE star is still without an opponent for the event.

An FSBC representative said the decision to decline Banks as an opponent for Lashley was made based on a review of the fighters' records, at which point the commission "determined that the bout was not competitive."

Haha, kind of embarrassing, isn't it?

Knowing that they tried to set up a fight that couldn't even get sanctioned?

UFC WATCH OUT!

Clearly this fight was set up for Lashley to win, but his scheduled opponent was 2-0 in Strikeforce. He is no lamb to the slaughter.

I have no idea how the commission can presume to call a fight between a 4-0 fighter and a 2-1 fighter with 2 wins in a major org uncompetitive.

It used to happen to K1 all the time in California. Conspicuously, it never seems to happen to the UFC.

I wouldn't be surprised if UFC reps were involved behind-the-scenes to squash this Lashley fight by way of the Commission. It's so effective.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Strikeforce needs to sack up and give Lashley a real fight.

It was reported earlier today that Jimmy Ambriz would be Lashley's opponent Link, but SF is denying that according to Ariel Helwani.
