OT - Pete Carroll to Seattle Rumor

Sounds like it could happen. The Gopher fan inside of me would love for both USC and ND to have new coaches so that Minnesota might have a shot at Seantrel Henderson.

I've heard Carroll would get complete control in Seattle, I don't think that would be a good idea and you'd think Seattle would have learned their lesson with Holmgren.

Edit: This also makes you wonder if there is something going on with the Reggie Bush/OJ Mayo investigation and Carroll wants to get out asap a la Calipari.

Well, he wasn't much of an NFL coach his first time around... maybe he figures since he coached so many NFL quality players at USC, he is ready again... You could probably field an NFL playoff team of just guys who played for him at USC.

He's a god in LA and could have gone down as one of the all-timers in college football. The only way this makes any sense is if there are some serious recruiting sanctions coming down the pike and Carroll is a reason why.

If I'm him I stay at USC. He's revered there, the weather is better, and scenery is better.

I'd stay at USC also, but this comes up every year. One of these years I feel like it's finally going to happen, and while I have little doubt that all of the controversy doesn't help the matter, I don't think him leaving necessarily means that USC is going to be slammed with sanctions. They could, but I don't think that's necessarily the only thing that leads to him leaving. I think it's quite clear at this point that he's interested at coaching the NFL again.

as someone who has lived in Seattle the weather doesn't get much better than Seattle weather. The "it always rains" myth is too far from the truth. In all actuality NYC gets more annual rainfall than Seattle. It stays at 70-80 with no humidity all summer and usually around 50 all winter. That was my favorite place I ever lived :P I'd go back in a heartbeat if my job and family wasnt all here in Wisconsin/Illinois.

I've got family who lives out there and they LOVE it. The only problem I see is that it seems like a pretty expensive place to live.

In Seattle? It depends where you live, last time I was there was for college and I was in the Redmond/Bellevue area which is where Microsoft has their headquarters and yeah it was expensive. We were paying 1600 a month for a 2 bedroom smaller apartment, over twice what I pay to rent a 3 bedroom house here in Milwaukee and where I'm at now is nicer, bigger, has more included, etc...

Like any city though there are cheaper suburbs but yeah if you want to live in the gated communities in Bellevue/Redmond where all the Microsoft, Nintendo and other various video game/programming companies in the area live yeah you will pay a lot, or if you want to live on the lake. But there are cheaper neighborhoods.

I also lived in Olympia at one point in my life for about 6 years which is about an hour south of Seattle, much cheaper to live there though you probably wouldn't want to commute 60 miles every day.

I doubt living expenses are a factor for Carroll either way :P But I know you weren't talking about cost of living for him.

Lol I'm still holding out hope he decides on basketball. At one point he had MU in his top 5. :D

Yeah he has said multiple times that he enjoys playing basketball more than football and if he could choose NBA or NFL he'd choose NBA. He has realized that football is his calling though. Tubby told him he can play basketball at Minnesota in addition to football if he wants. It's one of the few advantages Minnesota has in recruiting him, no other school has told him he can play both.

Unless he is avoiding the NCAA, I find this stupid. Then again you always see this and coaches have the ego to think they can excel in both leagues. Then again, he could flame out and still go back to USC to "salvage" that program in 5 years.

I think this very well could have something to do with it. If that is true, though, there's NO WAY he could go back to USC to "salvage" them. He'd be the cause/blame of any penalties that might be coming that program's way, so I doubt he'd be welcomed back.

Peter King said USC wants Mike Riley to replace Petey.
