Brook Lopez literally jumped off the Nets bench with six seconds still left in the game and ran to the locker room as the 98-76 beating was concluding. And when the media reached that locker room a half-hour later, Lopez was gone again - electing not to stick around to discuss his performance, for a very good reason: Which is why he's still dodging what is becoming obvious lately: The Nets are starting to neglect his development for the purpose of getting Yi Jianlian going.

Smoove for BLopez?

Brook avgs more pts/rbds than JSmith. He is an actual 7ft center allowing us to move Horford to PF.

If JJ does leave, we would have a scoring option available in the frontcourt; that ,combined with JCrawford stepping into the starting lineup at SG keeps us competitive while Teague develops. And it leaves us with a TON of salary cap flexibility for the next few seasons.

And a combo of Smoove and Yi Jianlin might be too much for NJ to turndown if this is true. It also sets our team up for the future at the two most important positions. (PG-Teague; C-Lopez)

I would do that in a heartbeat but the Nets are clearly tanking. They want Wall. Wall and Lopez are gonna be the enticing pieces that lure a big time FA to NJ. Brook isnt leaving. Josh isnt going. Also I dont konw how you think Teague is the future of PG for us. He needs to show more, even with his lack of minutes.

Seems like I've heard this before......are we starting to notice a trend with Woody and developing rookies?

And i gotta think Yi and Devin Harris are the real buidling blocks in NJ. They just might have too much young talent to really develop it.

Clearly there is a clear lack of trust in his young guns. He could be used quite a bit when we were getting torched by Nate and all the other PGs who have field days on Bibby. A trade needs to be made but losing Josh would lose fans, and unless we S&T Joe I doubt we would make any moves.

The trend is fans overreacting to the potential of our young players a la Law/Shelden/Salim. That's why we've heard it before.

I trully believe B. Lopez is the only untouchable player on that team. He's amazing imo. I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Now, anyone who thinks Al and Smith are very good (they have been this year), should never forget that Hawks will NOT take the next step unless we get a 7fter. We struggle against most teams that have true centers. We get outrebounded more often than we should. I think both Bogut and even Al Jefferson are easier to get than Lopez. I would pack JJ with Marvin or whoever for one of these plus whoever in a heartbeat.

That's an interesting idea: would JOE get us Lopez? On one hand, Joe would hurt the Nets' attempt to tank but, on the other hand, Joe would be very attractive to free agents. NJ would find it easier enticing LBJ, for example, if they had Joe. James is already on record as having talked to Joe about joining him.

If NJ also traded Harris, they'd lose out even if Joe played well; maybe that would matter.

Of course, we'd have to follow up the deal by trading Smoove or Horford, making the deal more dangerously complicated.

Why would the Nets trade their franchise cornerstone (Lopez) for 4 months of Joe Johnson? You don't really think Joe would resign there do you?

Absurd. He's the heart and soul of this team. He's the future of this franchise (along with Horford) and the most beloved Hawk in that arena since Mookie. The sky is still the limit on this kid. He has the talent and the drive/intensity to be a perennial all-star.

But does he have the attitude for that and commitment? I dont think so. Hopefully this isnt the peak of his career.

He would if James signed there. As I said, James has been wooing Joe since last year. I believe that having Joe might make it easier for NJ to sign James. Remember the criticism CLE got for acquiring Shaq? They said James would have trouble driving with Shaq camped out there. It hasn't been a problem because Shaq knows to get out of the way but a young and hungry Lopez might not want to get out of the way. Having Joe would be better for James than having Lopez. Joe on the wing would open the court for James in a major way, even better than the 3pt shooters CLE has now.

Besides, Lopez is not a "franchise cornerstone" anymore than Joe is. If Lopez is the best player on NJ's future team, their future has no championships in it.

Man what a hopeless trade idea, it seems like a lot of you aren't familiar with BLopez nor understand his value.

YES, he is the only untouchable player on that team. The guy is having a wonderful 2nd season, he's 21, he already has a very polished offensive game, great BB IQ, he can actually make mid-range Js with efficiency, and he's not too shabby on defense either. Once this guy starts hitting the gym with a vengeance, he'll be a full on beast.

And c'mon.....do any of you honestly believe James would prefer Joe over a big man stud in Lopez? Regardless of the fact that James has been a douchebag tease to both Cavs and NY/NJ fans, great bigs are much rarer than great wings and I don't even think the Nets would trade Lopez for your entire starting lineup.

Sam Smith of the Chicago Trib and the Atlanta paper (AJC) have been reporting that James has been recruiting Joe since April.

Yeah, I do think James would prefer a great 3pt shooter who'd open the middle over a good 7fter whose game is around the basket.

If Lebron is going to leave Cleveland, WHY would he go to New Jersey??? He's either staying in Cleveland, or going to be the annointed one in NYC. New Jersey ain't happening. If there was already an arena in Brooklyn, it would still be the longest of long shots, but there's not even that.

I'd love Lopez, but NJ would be insane to trade him for Joe.
