It's Official: AJ Price is a steal.

Post#1 » by IndieRuso420 » Tue Jan 12, 2010 2:47 am

I've seen all I need to see from him these last few games to know this.

He is so much better than Ford, and frankly I'de rather see him get the minutes over Watson.

Time for Price to crack the starting lineup.

Discuss.

I'm really liking his overall performance so far. At times there seems to be a bad shot here or there but at this point he is an absolute steal most definitely.

His man defense is looking ok. He seems to stick with his guy pretty well, works well in guard tandem play also.

I was very concerned when Patty Mills was left on the board when we took him, but it's looking more and more likely that AJ could have quite a lengthy and useful career here.

I wouldn't put him in the starting lineup cuz Watson is doin his thing...but he should get starter's minutes. Definitely better than Ford

Our PG's are combining for some nice play. Watson is distributing nicely, and Price comes in to score a little. If he gets his passing up to snuff (decision-making overall) we may have a nice combo guard off the bench. I still think we should look for a long-term solution.

I proposed Murphy & Foster for KMart & Lawson but haven't heard much. I think its pretty close value wise.

Great deal for the Pacers, but I'm not sure it's all that great for the Nuggets. Contractually, it's dead on, but I'm not sure they need a long-range bomber, and not at the loss of Lawson.

^^Not too sure. If the Nuggets are looking to contend, they get better at the PF spot, and Lawson's nice, but they already have Billups.

But it is better for the Pacers than it is for the Nuggets.

I wouldn't call him a steal quite yet, see: JR Bremer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JR_Bremer).

Hopefully, he keeps it up. He's been a pleasant surprise.

The Nuggets biggest problem against the Lakers last year was backup PG. Ty is not only an upgrade at that position, he is the type of player LA can't guard. He has also shown he can play really well when Billups is out.

I would disagree about Murphy being better than Kmart. He can definitely hit the three, but Kmart is a much better defender and been rebounding about as well as Murphy this season.

Not here to troll, Denver board is just a slow one.

Well that's not fair. Bremer only had the 3 point shot going for him. AJ has shown shot, passing and defense in his short time. I'm a believer that he's got a fair amount of play in him.

I'm certainly pleased w/ Price, but I'm not going to go so far as to say he's our PG solution. Backup PG solution, maybe. There's a lot of times where a young guy shows some impressive stuff at first, but fades after everyone in the league figures out his weaknesses, or he gets too comfortable and starts to think he's made it, and doesn't need to keep working on his game.

Definitely glad he's shown what he has though.

On draft night I wanted Patty Mills, I had no idea who AJ was and doubted that he'd make the team. I did some research and said well he has some talent but, I thought still he might not make the team! I'm glad he did make it and if he continues to grow as a player we might just have our PG of the future!

From an outside perspective, I always thought AJ would make it in the league, though I had doubts he would be a rotation player after his injury. I think he's proven that he should be a very capable backup pg in this league, maybe even a fringe starter, though I don't see potential after that, but who knows. He is very mature for a rookie, and I can see him play a Derek Fisher type role on a team(prime , not the old man he is now). Though I wouldn't say steal of the draft, he is definitely a steal, and imo, will be world's better than Patty Mills, who I think will flame out as soon as he begins his career.

My buddy is a big UConn fan, so I have been hearing about Price for a couple years. I wanted to pick him up in the 2nd round for sure. I am obviously glad we did. I don't think it's time to throw him into being the starter. He's a great spark off the bench and hopefully he'll be a clutch player for years.

Ramon Sessions? Only better!

IDK why, but something about AJ to me just screams "Jamaal Tinsley 2.0"

But he has done a solid job lately and I do hope he continues to play better and doesn't turn into Tinsley 2.0.

He shoots better and prefers golf to strip clubs. I'm optimistic.

Jamaal Tinsley was trouble long before he arrived in Indianapolis. I remember reading something that Tinsley got in lots of trouble and was pretty much kicked out of school and started playing street ball in NYC again with his pals. The Iowa State coach saw him and talked to him. I forget the specifics but basically the story said the coach said Tins has so much talent that if he stays "clean" for several years, he will make it to the NBA. Tinsley did and made it to the NBA, but when the money flooded in, Tinsley just couldn't resist from his poor temptations.

I get the same vibe about Price when I see him. I think it's just his build and the fact that he actually kinda looks like Tinsley at first glance. I like AJ though, and I think he's going to be a solid player for us if he continues to develop and cuts down on some of the bad shots.
