Aldrich is a bit of a plodder. He's got decent quickness but he's not the fastest guy baseline to baseline.

True, but he loves to throw it down with authority and his main role is interior defense and rebounding. He's also shown signs of a decent spot up jumper almost out to 3 point range. He's certainly not the best talent in the draft but for the Kings he'd just about eliminate our biggest weaknesses.

I figure a trio of Gay, Thomas, and Aldrich is going to be a nightmare for teams to keep up with athletically. One thing I've noticed about Evans is he can push the ball like an mother F'er, it would be nice to have pretty much every other guy on the court right there with him when he's storming up the court. That team would kill on the fast break.

I think the upside of that team is very high. I'm not against the trade like I said earlier. But there are areas of concerns though. How much will it cost? Will the dynamics of the team fit as neatly like you said?

Just playing a little devil's advocate here. :P

Even in a worst case scenario I don't think it'd set the Kings back all that much. Selecting Aldrich over anyone not named Wall isn't the biggest deal in the world and Jason, while a very nice young player, isn't really the "untouchable" type. I think Gay could be had at a reasonable price and will still have value as an asset. We still have Tyreke and the trade asset that is Kevin Martin if need be. Tyrus as a "need" type at or around the MLE isn't a super huge investment. If he regresses any however it's probably a bad contract in hindsight but strictly from a need standpoint it's a win.

Trade Thomas & Noc for Okafor & sign Tyrus and we have ourselves a pretty solid frontline with room for growth in JT and Hawes.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Aldrich could realistically go anywhere between 4 or so and like 9. I'd LOVE to get this guy. He'd fit our need IMO.

I say we draft Patrick Patterson out of Kentucky. He's a STRONG buck averaging 16/8 with a block per game. He'd be my pick.

He's not bad, and surprisingly skilled too. I just question whether not he's even above Jason Thompson in terms of potential.

Is it possible to sign a RFA with cap space and still use the MLE? I think that could be a major flaw in this plan...

and what do you think it would take to get a big like Al Jefferson or Gasol?

^^no if you use your capspace you can't use the mle.

The way I see it the kings have the ability to make one good trade a good signing and a good draft choice. That's pretty darn good. Or we have the ability to pull a blockbuster and make some small move for fit.

I'm a fan of the idea of signing tyrus this summer because he will fill such a need and will truly make this team much better. I would love to draft aldrich but don't think he will still be available at our pick if he isn't then we simply have to go with the BPA.

Asuming we make no major trades this is what I would like the team to look like next summer.
