Best and Worst Announcers?

Post#1 » by Tricky Ricky » Wed Jan 13, 2010 3:08 pm

let me start of by saying Heenan and Goorilla were the best announcers ever

the worst announcing team in my opinion is King and Cole, Cole is just annoying and King is awful now, King was awsome when I was too young to get his jokes but now hes just a good guy announcer and it sucks.

My fav team is...Taz and Tenay, I never thought Id say it but they work great together and Taz will occasionally root for the bad guys.

It's definitely King and Cole. Heel King was good though

All time, it's easily Gorilla and Heenan. Especially when a guy was injured and they brought him on for a while - like Savage and Piper. Heenan was the all-time best announcer and manager, hands down; his work from Royal Rumble 92 is legendary.

Other good teams were Ventura and Schiavone, Vince and JR, etc. I never liked Lawler much.

As for worst, near the end of WCW when it was Schiavone and Tenay it was ****ing awful. All they did was oversell everything and cuss out everything the nWo did and it was super annoying.

And whoever the ring announcer is for RAW right now, I hate that dude. He curls his R's way too much and it's a pain in the ass to listen to him every time I watch. I miss Finkel and Lillian.

Nothing will top Gorilla and Heenan, but I liked Vince and Ventura too.

I think Striker is pretty good too. If JR was healthy enough to have as the main guy again, he and Striker would be the perfect face/feel commentator duo.

Would Lawler be good if they turned him heel again or does he just not have it anymore? I'd have to say Heenan and Monsoon along with Ventura and Monsoon were both very enjoyable. I'm not sure about who the worst is.

Doesn't have it anymore. King's whole thing with being a heel announcer was liking the bad guys and yelling about puppies. Ever since that era ended he's been ass. Even if they turn him back into a heel announcer, there's guys who do it better than him now. Like Stryker.

Even if you guys wanna hear a commentating clinic, watch this. When Royal Rumble 92 came around, the title didn't belong to anyone. Whoever won the Rumble, won the title. And Heenan predicted that Flair would win and I forget how much he was betting on it. Anyways, his commentating during this whole match was just pure gold. If you guys have the hour to spare, watch the whole Rumble. I'm only posting Part 1.

Thanks for that link sh00n. Love watching the late 80's/early 90's stuff. If I had the cash I'd definitely pick up the box sets of the Royal Rumble and Survivor Series anthologies (already own the Wrestlemania anthology).

No problem dude. My personal favourites are in Part 2 when Tito Santana comes out and Heenan makes a comment about Flair making guacamole out of him.

That, and I think Hercules gets half-thrown over the ropes and Heenan starts screaming, "I'D DO THAT TO MY GRANDMOTHER IF I HAD TO!"

As for the Rumbles, it's my all-time favourite event. I actually own every single one on VHS. Nostalgia to the max, to say the least.
