Griffin Done For Season (Undergoes Successful Surgery - P.5)

Post#1 » by Det the Threat » Wed Jan 13, 2010 8:17 pm

After experiencing some discomfort during his recently-accelerated rehabilitation program, Clippers’ forward Blake Griffin was examined Tuesday afternoon by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles.

As a result of that examination, it has been determined that the healing in his left patella area has not improved to the expected required level. Griffin will undergo a surgical procedure in the near future, with a recovery prognosis of four to six months. Team personnel will be made available to the media. Further details will be made available as events develop.

Keep playing hard. We can't afford to have a miserable season like last year. Guys need their confidence to know that this is a legit team that can compete for a playoff spot. We've done alright without Griffin at this point. Players have stepped up huge in the past week or two, and we've beat some top teams even without Blake.

Just gotta believe.

Saw this on Ralph Lawler's Twitter page and literally cried out, "NOOOOO!" Greg Oden, the Clipper edition :(

Sure, but will we have a realistic shot at the playoffs with no bench production at all and Camby on a gimpy knee? :-?

There is a realistic shot, but it'll be pretty low. Towards the end of December till now this has been a completely new group of players. We've beat teams like BOS, LAL, and POR(while plagued with injuries, have continued to play impressively). The next 3 games are pretty big. We got another game against LAL and then CLE after. Something like this can really determine the outcome of what's to come.

I might be really optimistic, but the way we've been playing lately, with a sub-par bench and without Griffin, makes me think that this team finally knows how to play together. I guess we'll just see with the next week or two how things turn up.

Man I feel for you guys. I really wanted to see Griffin's debut that they were talking about this month. Looks like Clips just can't catch a break. Hope he returns to full strength with a lot to prove.

What a huge disappointment for Clips Nation. We never catch a break! Hopefully Blake comes back and makes a run for ROY next season. With this situation I say trade Camby so DJ and Rhino can grow, and we can get good value for him now before he inevitably gets injured.

Welp, the rooks are really going to get killed on the inside now with the rookie/soph game.

I completely agree with Panda. Despite all the adversity this team has suffered, we can't get down on ourselves as fans, and the players certainly can't neither. While this news has probably struck a blow to our playoff chances, it doesn't mean this team can't still play hard and finish the season around .500, if not better.

Hate to be the hornets tonight after hearing this news.

This is a sad day for all Clipper fans, waiting so long to see Blake play is now gonna take longer. I pray that he will be back next season 100% in his best shape. I sure hope he learns his lesson for being too wild and risking an injury. As for our current season, let's not give up we are still hanging there. GO CLIPPERS!
