I have been a Celtics fan my entire life and root for them just as much as any other life-long fan. I've always lived in Maine and I'm only 22 so I've only seen the Gorman / Heinsohn combo for the Celtics games other than nationally televised games. When I was really young obviously I didn't notice... When I got a little older it was kind of funny... but now am I the only one who does not like to hear 100% biased broadcasting?

Not only does it make it seem like a less legitimate broadcast to me, it's just not enjoyable to be watching a play that was clearly a foul on the Celtics while Tommy is yelling hysterically that it's not one. I can't tell if he is refusing to watch the replays, lost his glasses, or just pretends not to see what's really going on. It just really bugs me and I had to get this out. Even if no one agrees with me on here it's all good...

^^^I thought like you a few years back - but as you listen to him more you realize he does still bring alot to the table. He is better then almost all the other announcers - who while perhaps less biased are generally oblivious. Some of the national guys are good - like Jeff Van Gundy. But if you have league pass and listen to the other local guys - forget it.

That's just wrong. Tommy gives credit to other teams and other players all the time. If you're going to just make **** up, do it on the GB.

He's a homer to the fullest and has hated the refs since he was born. Frankly I don't care for him wailing about calls and plays when he is not even close. As a C's fan that's my only real complaint with him. If I were a fan of any other team, I would probably hate him too. Yet when I did have leaguepass, I couldn't believe how bad most teams announcers were. For all the complaining people do about Tommy, you would think their own announcers weren't such garbage.

At the very least, he's entertaining and still knows the game better than almost every broadcaster in the business. Then we've got Mike Gorman, who is the f'n man. He's got the voice, the passion, the knowledge, and next to Tommy, looks like the model of objectivity (although I suppose that's not saying much). Even with Tommy's abrasiveness, we get a better broadcast then most other fans around the league do. Can't really complain about that.

If you really want to grasp Tommy's knowledge of the game, watch him while he's in the studio.

I get the hate from opposing fans, I think DunkOn and Pete sum it up quite well for Celts Nation as a whole. He certainly goes overboard quite a lot. But, if you have a franchise with a storied history, it is a shame to not have a color commentator who can relay first-hand stories. I think Donny does a good job, but, honestly I would be disappointed if he becomes the color commentator for more than a few seasons. I hope someone on this current team becomes an announcer not long after they retire. That's why you place importance on legacy. I hope the team stays loyal to Paul Pierce and allows him to retire a Celtic and I hope Pierce will reciprocate and contribute to the organization in retirement.

Back to Tommy, when you get past the antics, as others point out he remains very astute in his analysis, when he discusses tactics as such. Hubie Brown, IMO, is one of the few who eclipse Tommy in breaking down the game.

I love listening to Tommy. He goes overboard on a regular basis but as a die hard c's fan I can't help but appreciate his passion for the Celtics and for the game of basketball. Is he biased? Yes, extremely. Is he our home announcer? Yes. Can other team's fans kiss his ass if they don't like listening to the CELTIC'S broadcast crew? I would imagine most certainly. He's not announcing for them, he's announcing for all of us. The madder they are at what Tommy's saying, the better things are probably going for us.

Man, try listening to the Raptors broadcasts in Canada. The play-by-play announcer pretty much screams like every basket is an overtime clincher in the 7'th game of the finals. Utterly exhausting listening to him. I don't get a lot of Celtics games on the tube, the broadcasts with the Raptors announcers are almost to the point of being so unbearable that the free Internet streams are preferable to the HD 52".

I like the fact that most of the time, Mike and Tommy have a nice even keel broadcast. It's like they've actually seen a basketball game before. Tommy can be a bit over the top, but he's pretty entertaining if you take him with the right attitude. He knows so much about Celtics BB, I've always thought it would be a blast to go to dinner with Tommy and Bill Russell, and just listen to them talk.

I LOVE Tommy Heinsohn. He can do no wrong in my book. There is no one who loves the Celtics more than Tommy.

He's a character, and I think Mike Gorman does a great job of creating some balance through subtle contrast.

It'd be different if he was such a homer and took himself really seriously as well....he also has a rich history with the organization. Buy league pass and watch some non-C's games. You'd learn to appreciate him, I assume.

Tommy Heinsohn is extremely astute, basketball wise.

He understands Tons of subleties that others haven't a clue about.

The man is a treasure.

We're lucky he's around. His eventual replacement will not be as savvy.

I hate when hes no there on away games. Donny is so blah. They should have kept Cooz on to work with Donny, but I doubt hed go to away games. They should get an exceltic player for sure not a uconn player and personal friend of ray allen.

Donny sucks, plain and simple. Get max to step up to the big broadcast when tommy retires.

Actually on another thought I could see Doc doing some broadcasts down the road, I thought he did a great job with TNT the few games I saw him. I'm a big proponent of Doc and hope it's a long ways down the road though, I like him right where he is, but he's got the personality to keep it interesting.
