I'm not worried about him paying the luxury tax anymore. Obviously he's got free millions to throw around. Haha.

The NCAA must not care about illegal things in college football, they don't punish the coach or the player who did the violations to begin with.
If they would put a violation penatly of a Million dollars per violation, they would stop. (personal money)
If they told the player the same thing and it goes against future NFL earnings, they'd think twice at least.
If they put a penality of if you try to skip out as Carrol and others have done, you get banned from coaching for 1 to 2 years.
If they told players who cheat or violate rules that if they do so they risk a 1-2 year NFL suspension also, they'd think twice.
But as it is, they punish the school, and the curren players who are there, which they did nothing wrong, it was the coach.

Agreed. Just another reason why, in my opinion, college sports is a huge joke.
Or rather, hugely hypocritical. And I say that as someone with an uncle who has coached for more than 30 years, all at Division I schools, 11 or 12 as a Big 12 head coach, and currently is on the staff at Florida.
Everybody's getting paid under the table, either by boosters or agents, the universities are making millions and millions of dollars -- at least, the really big ones are -- for the pittance of a handful of scholarships, coaching contracts don't mean anything, the NCAA is so inconsistent it make track and field, boxing and cycling look well run, etc., etc.
Not really complaining about this, it just irritates me when people scoff at pro sports as if college is somehow more pure, more meaningful. Please.
Still, it's pretty hard to punish players who are no longer with the school. I don't know any legal way to tie NFL punishment into something that happened in college. As for coaches, you could slap them with a suspension or fine whenever they return to college, but I'm not sure if the NCAA has either the power or the spine to do that.
That said, the school has to have some culpability. It surprises me that, with the specter of NCAA sanctions looming, USC would go out and hire an assistant -- who has never done anything but coach Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush, it should be noted -- who was on the staff when some of the alleged violations took place.
