Hey guys. Sorry i havn't been around much. I moved and sold my comp to my brother. Since i havn't been online much, just on my blackberry but not on these forums. Hope everyone is doing well, i'm on "vacation" right now and at my parents house just visiting you guys. Great win tonight by the Pacers eh?
Anyways, my question is to the guys who live in Indianapolis. I have a plane ticket i need to use by american airlines by march 15 or something and have no idea when do use it. I was thinking of flying down for a Pacers game and looked at Feb 15th (Spurs game) as the target date.
Questions-
1. How far is the airport from the arena/do buses go from airport to downtown?
2. What the heck is there to do in Indy for a single person to spend the day? lol
3. If anyone goes to the game, wanna meet up for a few beers?
4. What's the cheapest hotel near the arena? (walking distance)
Thanks.
Hey guys

Re: Hey guys
How long are you gonna be in town? Are you coming in day of the game or day before. What to do is dependent on what you like. Museums, bars, shopping! Cows corn fields! Then there is Lucas Oil Stadium it's impressive, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, they have a museum. If you like strip clubs you could see the Club Rio where Stephen Jackson shot up the parking lot! If you like Museums check out Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art,
The Airport is about 7 miles to down town where Conseco Fieldhouse is located. If I was you I'd stay at the Airport Extended Stay Deluxe it's about 1/3 of what you'll pay to stay down town. $55 to $65 a night with the room tax. Here is a link. It's a nice place a friend of mine used to work there they have a pool, gym, contenental breakfast, internet access and it's like a studio apt. with a full kitchen and even pots and pans.
The Hilton Garden downtown and the Omni Severin Downtown are both close but the Hilton is $140 plus 12% room tax and the Omni is $152 plus tax. There is a Westin and a Hyatt downtown and they are more expensive. For the difference in money you can rent a car. You might want a car anyhow if you want to get around Indy is a very sprawling city. If you don't have a worry about money stay downtown and there's lots of stuff to do.

I can't say what I might be doing that week my schedule is nuts. Oh and stay away from Club Rio! If you have to go to Dancers on the far west side of town, Rio is in really rough area.

Re: Hey guys
Hey, thanks for the info!
I was looking at another hotel with similar pricing but i don't know if it was as close as this one to the airport so thats sweet. My plane would arrive like 1pm and i would leave like 10am next day. I don't want to spend too much $$$ because in reality it's just an out of the blue trip. I have a airline tix to use and thats really the main reason for the trip.
I don't think i would get a car rental, although, maybe. I didn't really even think of that. I just figured i'd find my way to downtown and then be able to spend the entire time there. Because you gotta think, i wouldn't get to downtown until 2pm at the latest, and i wanna head to a bar for some pre game drinking by like 5. So in reality, i only have like 3 hours of site seeing Indianapolis.
