Love Tommy. He can announce as many games as he wants as long as he wants. Once he decides to step down, the C's should go after Kevin McHale.

EVERY season we get one of these threads about Tommy....

People, PLEASE.....The ENTIRE Country has gone Politically Correct...
Everything is CORPORATE CRAP.

Tommy is one of the last Broadcasters, who is Real....Do we want Robots in the booth?..I'm sure the Boys at Comcast cannot wait til he retires----So they can bring in a BORRRRING Cookie Cutter Commentator....I'm sick to death of all this Whitewashing of our society.

TOMMY HEINSOHN FOREVER...!!!

Right because the definition of being a fan is all having the exact same opinions.

I guess I just prefer a more neutral broadcast like a national tv one where the pregame and postgame shows discuss both teams not just one. I am a Celtics fan #1 by far but I am still a basketball fan and like to know what's going outside of Boston too. But I guess another poster was right in saying Tommy > Gary Tanguay. If you didn't know, you'd be shocked to hear he's actually been watching basketball for a long time.

I totally agree with the OP. Obviously I'm a knick fan but I always like to hear other announcer and their opinion on plays etc.

But with Heinsohn it's just impossible to listen to. I tried last season a lot but this season when I watch the Celtics on league pass I turn on mute---otherwise it is literally impossible for non celtic fans to watch the Celtics play and I'm not exaggerating. The guy is just terrible---he takes bias to a whole different level.

Donny just likes to hear himself speak, always puts down Mike's comments, just laughs at them, he's no fun to watch.....

Heinsohn is great to watch, sure he's biased, but he knows the game like only a great coach knows the game.

Yeah, Matt Devlin's terrible. Chuck Swirsky, although he's a pussy, was a better announcer than Matt. I always get a chuckle when he says something like "SONNY WEEMS WITH THE JUMPER!!! RAPS DOWN BY 8, 31-39!! 7 MINUTES LEFT TO GO IN THE 2ND QUARTER!!" When I'm surfing the net while the game is on, I'm always forced to look at the TV thinking I missed some sort of spectacular play.

That's why Tommy Heinsohn is a CELTIC'S announcer and not a national one. Celtics fans love him, myself included. :D

God the Celtics better not replace Tommy with Donny. I can't stand Donny. He talks like he was a 10 time All Star and always talks about "back when I played...". I don't care Donny. You weren't that good, get over yourself.

I'll second that McHale call though. He'd be a great replacement for Tommy.

Just a tick OT: Anyone know where I could find a wav. file of Gorman saying something along the lines of : "Got it!! Ball game over!! Celtics win!!" ??
