Henk Norel

Post#1 » by shangrila » Wed Jan 13, 2010 8:37 am

Is there any interest in bringing him over this season or next? To be honest I'd forgotten about him but Givony seemed to like him and he'd probably come cheap.

Actually, is he even in the team's plans? I didn't hear much about him over the summer.

I'm pretty sure he was never in the plans, he was merely taken as a possible way to get Rubio over here (this way we could have effectively paid two $500,000 buyouts for Rubio, with no intention of actually have Norel play for us). I may be wrong, but I have been of the belief that this is the only reason we took him and that we never had any real hopes of him joining the team.

Maybe if he shows something we would bring him over, but I doubt he'll ever be an NBA player. He doesn't seem to be doing much in Europe this season, but I'm not really a good gauge of that since Euro stats translate poorly to how they will perform in the NBA. Such as Nikola Pekovic averaging about 15 and 4 in about 20 minutes a game and being considered one of the best centers in Europe...but 4 points and 2 boards a game in 11 minutes just doesn't seem all that productive (Henk's stats). NBA and NCAA stats, I get...and Euroleague/ACB/International basketball in general, I have a hard time assessing what "good stats" are over there.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

It's funny because at one time Henk Norel was considered a somewhat decent mid-2nd prospect, then people saw him play. He was used mostly as a way to get Rubio over. He's tall... And um tall?

Not saying there's no chance, but it would take quite a bit of work for him to be considered a legit NBA prospect.

Norel was only drafted to increase Rubio's buyout which unfortunately didn't work out. He'll never make it on our team.

I don't even know what kind of game he has, I'll just assume he's a cross between Varejao and Birdman and that we should bring him over ASAP and profit

He's more like a poor man's Bosh. I expected him to become the inside offensive reference of Joventut this season but he has been a big disapointment so far.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

So like a Lemarcus Aldridge? Get him over now!

That's the best case scenario.
It would be silly to get him there, he won't be able to contribute at all for a looong time.

He is absurdly athletic and tall, not just tall. If he ever learns how to play he might actually be a good bench player. He's like a really tall, really raw, even more energetic Corey Brewer hehe. Chase the ball Henk! Go get it!!

Yeah, I just thought he might be good to bring over and see what he can do. Can't have enough energy guys to fill the end of the bench.

Whatever, he's a good prospect but still has a lot of work to do. Bump the thread in 2-3 years.
