Alright Brewer haters, time to eat crow.
I've been waiting to make this thread for a while now. Before this year, we've had regulars, outsiders and casuals call Brewer a bust and a horrible pick. Some have even said that he'll be out of the NBA after his rookie contracts ends, maybe before.
Time to fess up folks. Brewer belongs in the NBA. He's improved his game. He provides the most excitement out of any other Wolves player. I'm not saying he's a star or even a starter, but I hope he remains a Wolf for a long, long time. I'm excited for his continued improvement.
Before this season started, I wanted Kahn to not pick up his option so he'd have to earn a contract. Now I'm glad he did. How has Corey's play this season changed your mind about him? How do you see him fitting our team in the future?
Consider this the official Corey Brewer appreciation thread.

Re: Alright Brewer haters, time to eat crow.
Some day in the distant future there will be a thread on the player comparison forum about Scottie Pippen and how good he could have been if it wasn't for the back injuries, and someone will suggest Pippen could have been as good as Corey Brewer. And everyone will agree and they'll instantly lock and sticky the thread as a perfect contribution.

I do think he is the most fun guy to watch on the team, he's definitely a bright spot during the current woes in the standings. It's just exciting to watch him attack the rim, even on the plays where he gets rejected by the rim. The injury seems like a non-factor already, I hope he can continue to improve.

PeeDee - Amen!
May never be a star...but his energy is something you simply cannot teach! When he is the 7th man in the 8-man rotation the Wolves will be back!

Just look at his numbers in December and January, he's really improving his shot. Shooting around 30% from three, and 45% from the field.

He's definitely been playing better than I expected this year. He seems to be flourishing in Rambis' system.

He has improved a lot on the offensive side of the ball. He's not the one-on-one defender I thought he would be, but he's disruptive as hell when he wants to be. He'd look 100x better with a big man that could make up for his gambling on defense.

I wouldn't exactly call myself a hater, but I've certainly been frustrated by him and didn't have high hopes for improvement. He has exceeded my expectations.
Plus that 3 last night was dope. He's turning into quite the highlight reel this year.

Re: Alright Brewer haters, time to eat crow.
I'm so in favor of a Brewer appreciation thread that I started one a month ago
Seriously, though, for my opinion on Brewer, see this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=969172
And he has continued to improve since then. I for one think he has the potential to become a solid starter, especially if he's surrounded by solid 1-4 options on offense and he is a 5th option who only needs to be relied on to score in transition and hit some open jumpers. His defense and hustle will continue to earn him heavy minutes, at least this year, so we will have a better idea of how he fits long-term after this season. I have never lost faith in him and I am as happy as anyone to see his hard work pay off in improved confidence and performane on the court.
AROOOOOOOOOOOOO BREWWWWWWWWWW

Brewer absolutely belongs in the NBA...as a mediocre 8th man.

he's playing with confidence now, he knows he can finish in the paint w/ his length and athleticism. Once that confidence extends to his outside jumper, we'll have ourselves a success story.

He may be that right now, but he's shown that he could be a pretty good player in this league. Calling him an 8th man at best is a little harsh.

It's all based on expectations. He lowered are expectations so much, that now we view him in a different light. Foye and McCants could never live up to their expectations. I wonder if Flynn pans out that weigh too. But for Brewer is was so ugly that we had written the guy off, which he has proven us wrong about, but he still hasn't met his original expectations.

call me when he learns to dribble the basketball without the risk of hurting somebody.
Or when his eFG% on jumpers is above 40%.
and yes he belongs in the NBA, but I honestly exprected more of a 7th pick. I much rather they drafted Noah.

I think he will eventually come off the bench, but as a sixth man. His energy is infectious and having a tall defender, who can run/slash, come off the bench would be ideal. A wing rotation of Evan Turner, Wes Johnson, Corey Brewer, 3 point shooter, 3 point shooter would be ideal.

the best thing to happen with Brewer's NBA career was the emergence of Kevin Love.

Know what's funny? If all somebody followed the NBA by was watching Sportscenter highlights and top plays, they'd think Brewer was a star. It seems like he gets more run in those areas than KG did.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Re: Alright Brewer haters, time to eat crow.
Wow. Talk about desperation.
Brewer has a Per of 10.93.
2 games in the month of January where he's shot better than 40%
His shooting has improved, but his steal, rebound and assist rates are in the tank. His TO rate is up slightly.
It is blatantly obvious that he wouldn't be playing more than 10 minutes per game on any other team in the league.
If this is crow...seconds please!
(I suppose it is about time for someone to start calling Joakim Noah a drug dealer again)
