I'm really not keen to throw away a first rounder on a rental - even if it lets us squeak into the playoffs. I think a lotto pick is probably more value than a first-round shellacking, and I certainly would pay anything to trade the one for the other.

If someone wants to dump a player on us who earns 25% more than Stephen Hunter then great, but no 1st for a UFA. If we wanted Outlaw we should have just held onto Warrick, who'll give you 90% of the performance minus the three point shooting.

We should make a push for Barbosa. Maybe Hunter and picks for him

I hadn't thought about it, but what about bringing in Antonio Daniels for a veteran min?

The Grizz attempted to push for him last year. I'm thinking we may need to look into him again. This season hasn't been one of his best with injury concerns. Also mins this month alone haven't been that great. The rookie Doran Gragic has been earning some mins @ PG for the Suns while Barbosa has been in and out of the lineup. I'm thinking @ some point LB might find himself expendible if Gragic contines to eat into his mins.

Yeah, I think Daniels could give us 10-15 productive minutes at the one and two spots, but maybe I'm living in the past. I remember he was a big part of that surprising Seattle team from a few years back.

I don't think Daniels is what they should be looking at. I thought his game dropped off alot the last couple of seasons he played and I don't think he could offer anything that Tinsley can't. Since the topic is about building the bench this offseason and not this year, I wonder how Josh Childress is doing in Europe this year? He was a good utility player at multiple positions when he played for Atlanta.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of immediate assistance before a possible playoff birth. I noticed that the guy is currently a free agent and was a bit surprised. Veteran min wouldn't hurt anyone, even if we do already have Tinsley. I much rather have Antonio Daniels than Lester Hudson to be honest. He is 34 years old at this point, which is towards the twilight, but I am sure he could give us 1-2 years if he is still in shape. I agree that he probably won't bring too much more to the table than Tinsley. Regardless, it's worth a look at least because Tinsley at the vet min is a steal.

As for Childress, I like the idea of looking overseas to see which Americans abroad are peaking. Idk when Childress wants to come back, but I personally don't think overpaying for him with a buyout this offseason is worth it. I would wait out his contract the one additional year if I really liked him. Of course, he could opt out, but I'm pretty sure he's all about the benjamins.

I think getting Childress back to the States would take a more-than-MLE offer, especially for a small-city team. I'd love to have him, but I think he's a luxury we can't really afford. And we probably want someone who's a bit more of a scorer to be our 6th man.

I thought Raja Bell might be worth a look. Playoff experience, solid two way player, should be available starting at 3-4 million.

I like Raja Bell but there was a reason Phoenix shipped him out, even though he was a close friend of Steve Nash. His game slipped a fair bit in his last season with the Suns and he's drifted to a couple teams since and couldn't prove himself worthy of good playing time.

Now he's out for the season and I wonder if he can make a comeback or not. At a low price on a short deal he may be worth the gamble but I'm on the fence with this one.

He was actually pretty decent for the bobcats when he arrived there, and the suns shipped him out mostly because they, along with most observers, though J-Rich was a bigger talents. Bell's probably not a starter any more, but I think he could play a solid 20-25 minutes off the bench, and provide much-needed composure in the playoffs. Only if the price is right, obviously.
