You'd probably need to throw in some picks, but this would extend your title window. And Joe Johnson is leagues better than Hinrich/Salmons.

You have to be kidding. I wouldn't trade Perkins for Joe and Zaza, let alone give you Ray and picks. If we want Joe Johnson we can just sign him after this season.

How in the world would we be able to sign Joe Johnson after this season???? You think he's going to take the MLE or something?

It would be REALLY hard to part with Perkins in this deal, but if JJ agreed to an extension ahead of time, I'd do it. Partly because it will be hard to re-sign Perk in 2011.

If wanted to let Ray Allen walk we could probably get him. He's younger and probably a better offensive player.

Are you completely oblivious to the rules regarding the salary cap? You don't have space even if you let him walk, whereas if you trade for him now you pick up his Bird Rights and are allowed to go over the cap to resign him.

Boston won't have the cap room to sign Joe Johnson. Even if they renounce Ray Allen.

Take a pill buddy. I just think that the salary cap doesn't matter if you want to build a title team.

Pft, why do the Knicks even need to trade Jeffries and Curry, they can just sign LeBron, Wade, Amare, and Bosh and win the next 15 years.

I'd do JJ for Ray and BigBaby, but i'd be still dobtful. Ray Allen it's a player that know how to move without the ball in the hands. JJ needs to handle the ball for a longer time. Time that actually is up to Rondo and Paul Pierce.

JJ would be an ideal fit for this team....HOWEVER.

No way Atlanta does that deal. They want to keep their nucleus. They have a pretty nice team.

Even if the trade happened, there's no way JJ would stay with the Celtics. He might still be bitter that he got traded from the C's for marbles (Delk and Rodgers). I would be....maybe that's the reason he has fantastic games against us. He plays with a chip on his shoulder to show the team that drafted him that they gave up on him too early.

So I agree with an earlier post that we would be stuck with just ZaZa (whom i hate just as much as I hate Varajeo).

It's a dream (NBA live dream) but no.

Joe Johnson
Zaza Pachulia

for

Ray Allen
Kendrick Perkins
2011 1st
2013 1st
Cash

Not sure what other assets Boston has, but I think that would approach what it'd take to swing a deal if I was Rick Sund. Maybe a prospect or some seconds as well.

We've made it clear that we hate the trade even without giving up two draft picks and cash.

We aren't moving Perk. Honestly, he's more valuable to this team than either Ray or Johnson could be.

A. We'd be trading Ray and Perk to an East coast team. Perk is a loyal guy, he's going to remember we traded him every time we play the hawks, and to combat him, we'd have Zaza pachulia.

B. We'd have to resign JJ to a new contract, he's gonna want money, and there are a lot of teams that will be able to overpay him (the ones that didn't get lebron).

This is tough for me because of all the dumb trades that come through this board that break up the good chemistry of the big 3/rest of the team, this one addresses some serious needs while getting younger. I wouldn't wan't to lose Perk so I'd rather give baby, but if the hawks actually wanted this trade, I would be sure a certified center would have to be thrown in to nab jj. Ray is very good, but it wouldn't make sense for the hawks to trade for him unless they wanted a legit center as well.

So to this I say, if it happened I wouldn't be kicking dirt, but It'd be one hell of a bet to take, hoping everything were to work out this year and the next few.

It's funny, fans for other teams consistantly say that Perk is overrated he just isn't that good and he would be nothing without the Big 3 but just about every trade idea has the Celtics trading Perk to them.

Something isn't quite right there.

People who say Perk is overrated are idiots and should go drink copious amounts bleach.
