The best way to get Nocioni?

Post#1 » by klemen4 » Sat Jan 16, 2010 4:33 pm

Allen, Scalabrine = $22,190,653
FOR
Nocioni, Thomas, Rodriguez = $17,851,696

1) Boston saves $4,338,967 in trade
2) SAC buys out Allen, BOS Resign Ray after one month for minimum ($1,045,164)
3) Savings in luxury tax around $3,300,000

Sacramento may add +4,3 mio (3,3mio if they buy out Allen for 1 mio less) in trade, but being under luxury tax line they can afford that and I think getting out of Nocioni contract for next 2 year they would do this.

So basically BOS saves around $6,600,000 and adds Nocioni.

Ok they add his contract for next year and year after...
$6,850,000
$6,650,000
...but with this year savings you cover his 2010 salary (Or lest say you cover half of his salary, if we take into account that his $6,850,000 is actually $13,700,000 BOS being in luxury tax).

In summer you than resign Allen for MLE($5,854,000), House for 3 mio and one pg for minimum if Daniels goes.

RONDO/?
ALLEN/HOUSE
PIERCE/NOCIONI
GARNETT/DAVIS
PERKINS/WALLACE

2010 payroll for 9 players $79,030,000
+ 2010 first round rookie
+ 4 vet.min. players

I really don't like deals where we move Allen and risk whether or not he's actually willing to come back here on the minimum and then lose our MLE just to sign him again in the offseason. We're essentially using the MLE to pick up Nocioni, when it could be used to get someone better in the offseason.

Guaranteed someone under the cap (plenty of teams this offseason), would be willing to offer Ray double the MLE. I really don't like risking losing him for nothing like that.

I think I'd pass. I like Nocioni as a player, but his contract might be too rich for our blood. Its really up to the owners though. If they don't mind spending the money I'd give my thumbs up. I think we could do better though.

Oh wow, I never realized Nocioni was past 30. I always thought he was in his mid-20s. Definitely hate the idea of even giving expirings to get him. He'd be nice to have, but his contract lasts too long (wouldn't want to add any contracts past 2012).

Since there is a good chance Mike Miller will be bought out
the Celtics can stay clear of Noc's contract.

This is lunacy, it's tough enough to take on Nocioni's contract if we only give up TA/Scal, and you're proposing we give up Ray so that we can take on more contracts in return?

If Ray comes back for the minimum, the most he could get from us next year is the MLE. No guarantee he'd come back, I think all these ideas where Ray comes back are pipe dreams.

I'm confused at the purpose of this trade would be anyways. I think Ray offers a lot more to the table than Nocioni does

Celtics a re not adding Nocionni's contract. They wouldn't a yr ago and definitely won't now with what they owe Rasheed. i do think he would be a god fit, just not plausible financially.
