McDeyss is doing worse than Gooden, Kurt, and Oberto from last season. The -9.0 net production is horrible. The Spurs will struggle as long as McDeyss is getting a lot of minutes.

Dice played great for Detriot last year. Hopefully he steps up his game.

Re: McDeyss has negative value
From a Piston fan....
Dice has ALWAYS been a very slow starter....
His game usually hits its peak in Jan/Feb and then stays there for the rest of the season. I doubt this season will be any different. He'll pull it around, and when he does, he'll be great for you guys down the strectch.

Re: McDeyss has negative value
This seems to be typical with Dyess, as since coming back to Detroit, he's always had slow starts to the season because he's done minor to no off-season work because of his knee (managing it).
He really should come around - but regardless, I think we probably do need another solid big man with some size.

Re: McDeyss has negative value
I don't see us making any major moves before the trade deadline. I think this is roughly the team we take into the playoffs.
If Dice heats up as much as people seem to think he will, that can only benefit us for the remainder of the season.

I was very disappointed in Dice early but can see how the Detriot fans may have a point. He seems to be getting better and better as the weeks go on. Wonder if we guaranteed Malik Hairston's contract just as another piece for a later move.

Word is that we did. I'll post a link when I find one.

Need proof, simply check out his split stats from previous seasons; PRE-all star break to POST-all star break. His number increase dramatically.

Re: McDeyss has negative value
Our additions have been dissapointing, but none more than Richard Jefferson IMO.
We brought in Dice to be a role player. Maybe it's not panning out, but he's still just a role player.
Jefferson was brought in to our 4th star. Forget about "Star", he's nothing more than Average right now. Below Average if I have to say. 13 points, less than 4 rebounds and 2 assists a game? I was expecting 18 points and 5-6 boards a game. This isn't even close.

Re: McDeyss has negative value
I agree. RJ sucks. These additions were meant to take pressure off the Big 3 so they could be rested and ready for the postseason, but TD is doing more than ever.
I hate that we're paying $14M a yr for 13 freaking points a game.

Re: McDeyss has negative value
Need I remind you that EVERYONE's numbers are down (not named Tim Duncan and George Hill)..Parker scored 22 a game last year now he's down to 16 and a half..Ginobili scored 15.5 a game last year now he's down to 12 and a half..Roger Mason scored 12 a game last year now he's down to 8..Dyess scored 9.6 a game last year now he's down to 5 and a half..Prior to the Charlotte game our offensive rating was 4th in the league, highest ever in the Duncan era..We have so many offensive weapons on our team there is no need to relegate a hefty number of shots to any one player..Our defense is the one that deserves criticism NOT our offense..

Re: McDeyss has negative value
Our offense is improved over last season, no doubt about it. It's balanced in such a way that of course some players will take a hit on their per game averages. That was bound to happen, I expected nothing less.
But the addition of RJ etc. was meant to put a stop to those frustrating games where our offense just shuts down for long stretches. The series vs Dallas last year was a prime example, only TD and Parker were hitting shots, the rest of the team was MIA. The idea was to bring in some firepower and lighten the load of the Big 3 over the 82 game marathon. We scored 76 against Charlotte. Not good enough. I know they're a great defensive team now. We were outscored 39-20 in the 4th when we played Dallas a couple of weeks ago. Not good enough. Not this year.
Anyway, I wasn't attacking our offense as a team - just the $14M liability.
Don't get me started on our D.

Jefferson has always been avg in my opinion.

Re: McDeyss has negative value
Would you consider Chandler and S.Graham for McDyess, Bonner and Finley.
Chandler gives you a mobile centre next to Duncan and Graham has been good defensively for us, he is a bit like a mini Wallace.
I had to include Finley to match salaries. I know he is better than a throw in, but he isn't the player he used to be either.

I'd do it. Chandler would be great paired alongside TD. That's a no-brainer for me.

Well, the problem with that big man grouping is between Blair and Chandler, there is absolutely no jump-shooting threat for when Duncan is doubled. Now, if Charlotte were to agree to waive Bonner so the Spurs could get him back, that would be a steal. If neccessary adding something else in as a throw in might be worth it. But if it involved getting rid of Bonner? It's a risk.
If I was the Spurs I would love to have Chandler. He's no longer the player he once was it seems(and he was very underrated for a few seasons there, one of the best defensive Centers in the league), but he's still a quality defensive big man with size who can play both big man positions. Also, Parker seems to like throwing lobs, but doesn't get many opportunities to do so. Maybe Chandler can help out there, because he is still a bit of a threat on those I think. In any case, the Spurs defense has been awful when Duncan is off the floor, Chandler would really help that out. I wouldn't mind having him at all.
