OT: NJ no longer sold on Devin Harris

Post#1 » by campybatman » Sat Jan 16, 2010 10:38 pm

If I'm Dallas, I would try to reacquire him. Have him com off the bench or start with Kidd, or start next season and have Kidd come off the bench.

Devin Harris and Jarvis Hayes for Josh Howard works.

For Boston, you could start him with Rondo with him as the off guard. But this only makes sense if Ray won't be a part of the future plans. However, the Nets want a star player in return. Boston has no one to offer. Hence, why I believe Dallas should jump on this. Because Boston can only offer expiring contracts. The best that Ainge can offer is...

Davin Harris for Davis, Scalabrine, Tony and Giddens and a future first round pick.

I have sources who say the Nets are no longer sold on Harris as a core piece on the team. If they can package him with an expiring contract or two and get a young All-Star in return, they might do it. If they knew they were getting John Wall, they'd surely do it. ESPN.com

They should really wait until the lottery to try to trade him. They don't lose any leverage if they manage to get Wall either, since they could probably start next to each other.

If they manage to get Lebron, he'd be a pretty ideal complement next to him. Scoring point guard who can run the offense a bit, but needs an elite scorer next to him to be productive (Carter, James).

Apparently he has been playing pretty ordinary this year though I haven't really seen any Nets games and he was injured early. I personally don't think we need or want him.

If the Nets get Wall (which of course as the worst team in the league probably means they wont) then he will be gone as quickly as they can find a decent deal.

He's playing in a disinterested way for a guy that makes 36 million in the next 4 seasons on a horrid team, but I think he's worth his salary in the right situation, and that was Dallas.

As bad as the Nets are, I have to say if they get the #1 pick, they become a favorite to get Lebron.

That's true only if Lebron is willing to take a couple steps back in terms of short-term success.

Devin Harris just doesn't have that "it" factor. And hopefully this season puts to rest the question of who's the better player in the Rondo vs. Harris debate.

I agree about waiting to trade him in the summer. They need to make sure they definitely have John Wall before trading off their starting point guard.

So Harris goes from the penthouse to the outhouse so to speak. See, it goes to show you, here today gone tomorrow. Harris is quickly becoming an afterthought. Yet, Rondo wasn't named to the All-Star game as a reserve last season. I believe Rondo is a perennial All-Star. If he's named this season, he'll be named to more. Conversely, we might not see Harris get named to another All-Star game.
