We Need A Back Up PF - But Who? (merged)
LB is telling Bonnell he keeps asking for one, but who could we realistically get? Ideally we want someone who is a bit of a vet, doesn't have a long contract, who can step in, contribute and really have an impact on our 2nd unit.
Guys that spring to mind:
Gooden
Wilcox
Haslem
Collison
Boone
Sheldon Williams
Dorsey
Bass
Any one else?
Are these guys even attainable?
What would we have to give up to get one of them?
Could they help?

McDysee is stupid, he could've been here and been a big part of our rotation on a playoff bound team. That would've been perfect IMO. That or bringing back Howard maybe.

I would love a Reggie Evans kind of guy if he was healthy.

Re: We Nees A Back Up PF - But Who?
simple... make tyson the backup pf when he comes back. keep nazr as the starter, keep going small in the 4th with boris at center and flip at sg. tell tyson he can earn is pt by playing backup pf and backup center. that should be good for 15mpg for tyson. even I cant argue with our current results. no need to change things up too much when tyson gets back. at least not until he proves he deserves more minutes.
other plan: shop henderson and diop or nazr for a powerforward.

What about Kenny Thomas? I know Larry played him a lot of minutes back in 02-03 in philly.

My thinking is we don't need a big time player to come in and backup Diaw. We need someone who will come in who already is a bench performer. Gooden and Dorsey type players are ones that come to my mind but Landry would be perfect. We need someone who can play pf/c so we can send out Diop. He is playing decent but he should be the target to be traded along with Acie Law and Ajinca. The rest should be untouchable as far as team chemistry. Nazr is more of a backup althou he is playing well he can't hold up playing major minutes and going small won't help us with a big center in some games.

But UPS is undersized and I would much rather him backing up Crash at the 3 - and Crash not playing so many mins per game.
Besides, people tend to smash Boris for not boarding enough as a PF. How many boards did UPS pull down in 30 mins of play last night?

Not a bad idea.
Thomas for Gana and Law works - and don't the Kings need a defensive 5?

UPS definitely would struggle with certain match-ups. From the little I've seen he looks like he doesn't know what he's doing defending the post yet. He couldn't have handled Duncan/Blair with the spurs for example.
However not every team has big PF's like that, he should be playing more in any case.
What about a deal with the Spurs? Between Theo Ratliff and Mcdyess there is going to be a vet PF (with a history with LB) not happy with his minutes.

I agree with Fat Lever. Let Chandler play backup 4 because it's going to be hard to move him because of his contract. You can't really move DJ because of Felton's contract situation. And if DJ would get traded Felton might not play as good because he knows he can get whatever money he wants with no one available to take his place. Flip usually plays good. Graham is probably high on our trade list because he doesn't seem to have a high bb iq, kind of like Shannon Brown. We're better off keeping Nazr and who really wants Ajinca, Hendo, or Diop at this point.
Maybe we could look to the D League for another big. Is Mensah Bonsu still available?

Agree, Brown has a bright future here but it's not manning the 4 spot in key games/playoff situations. He was never a volume rebounder in college and he hasn't shown much of that as a rookie.
I like Slam's list, but I'm not sure we'd have the right player mix to get anything done on those guys. Frankly, I can't see anyone giving up a player worth much for Diop, Law or Ajinca. We need to consider teams that need a 5, have an extra 4, and (by some miracle) think Gana has promise for the future. Or deal Law and Jinx for a servicable player.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I thought Pops would have been good too. I'm pretty sure he has signed over seas now though.

The Nets released Sean Williams, I've always been a big fan of his and I can't blame anybody for not wanting to produce for the Nets.

Damn, you are right indeed, Crash is curently 2nd in the league in mpg with 41.7, just behind Monta Ellis. And to add to that, Jax is 10th, so we have two players that play more than LeBron... Seriously, LB should play the bench guys a lot more, no need to tire both of these guys and risk an injury.
