OT: NFL Playoffs

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Mon Jan 18, 2010 5:08 am

I'm so geeked on the NFL playoffs right now even though my team is out (Baltimore Ravens). There are so many great teams this year. San Diego and their fake tuffness got stopped today thanks in part to their pro bowl kicker getting stagefright once again, three missed FG's, in fairness one was a 57 yarder, wide left, wide right, wide right.

For my Ravens, a long hard fought journey ends, for them to even make the playoffs with so many second and third stringers because of injury and taking out the mighty Pats was quite a feat in itself, now I have to root for one of these teams to keep in the game. Easy choice for me...

The way I see it is you have 3 teams that are near mirror images of each other and one that's different than the rest. Three run a near college style spread offense with maybe the three best QB's in the NFL THIS season and other than some brilliant pass rushers (MIN, IND) not a whole lot of defense is being played on any of these offensive juggernauts. I haven't seen NOR play other than many highlights so forgive me if I'm off on them.

Only one team left that plays to my style... run, ball control, and sick defense...JETS, JETS, JETS! Nothing better to me than watching these high powered, near unstoppable offenses, go down to a great defensive team.

The Jets stole the Ravens defensive coach Sexy Rexy and Bart Scott & Jim Leonard (I was so sad to see Jim go more than anyone, he's like the white Ed Reed a sick ballhawk, always around the rock) You saw that today he got a sick INT in the hubby wife zone between Gates & Jackson.

Mark Sanchez, or as Petros fondly calls him "Sanchito" has really surprised me these last two weeks he is battling playing like a pro, he doesn't get a lot of opportunities, rightfully so cuz he's a rook, but he's outplaying my boy Flacco who I thought early in the season was the next superstar at QB, a can't miss, then he came back to earth. I think Sanchez has already eclipsed Joe's skill level. I love how Sanchito is passionate and enthusiastic, and a vocal leader, he's planting his feet and firing away. He had that fantastic roll out right to the corner of the endzone for Keller, just a veteran play. I guess Pete Carrol was wrong, Sanchito was ready.

And Darrel Rivas wow talk about believing the hype if you watched the game you saw why he is receiving such high marks.

IND is gonna be a bitch in the dome with the arguably the best QB of all time at the helm, and their #1 pass rush. They were so fast and quick and near a fully healthy roster vs. my Ravens like it was the first game of the season they were flying all over the field. They were off nearly 4 weeks, they earned it but the Ravens even had a short week playing on Saturday (6 days). Anyway... Go Jets!...Sanchito!

not sure if the Jets actually beat the Chargers. it is more like the Chargers beat themselves.

all those stupid unforced penalties got them out of rhythm, the never miss kicker missed 3 field goals, the quaterback that has never had a back to back interception decides that this is the game to have them and what the hell was that receiver thinking when he kicked the challenge flag.

the Chargers had that look in their eyes that said we have never played in a playoff game.

funny thing is that I don't think they were scared of the Jets. either they gave the game way on purpose (gambling or mob) or they choked because it was a playoff game.

I agree wit you snaq, the kicker lost them the game more than anything. Hey Duba my Steelers will be looking to get back next year. No doubt in my mind we'll be looking to bust many of QB's up badly.

The Colts D line are listening to Santeria by Sublime to get pumped up for the game. If I can find Sanchito...

I want Farve to win it all and go out on top after everyone told him he was washed up and shouldn't come back. It takes some big cuhungas to play for the rival and then to have the best season of his career.

OT: I hope the Lakers let Kobe start until he is ready to retire. So far Kobe has helped deliver 4 championships to LA and I hate when teams try to push their star players out. Kobe should retire a Laker. I would hate to see him go to the conference Finals in dare I say it A CELTICS UNI.... bad dream bad dream wake up...

For old time sake Kobe should be able to start on the Lakers until 2020 if he wants to. I think (HOPE knock on wood) that Kobe will help the Lakers win more than 4 titles when its all said and done!!!

Let's hope he doesn't retire or Mr. USC will take over.

IND, MIN, NYJ,NORL that's how I rank them 1st to last.

I'd love to see the NYJ go all the way, but it's hard to think they'd be able to handle the pass rush. I think the biggest problem the NYJ will face is the pass rush I just don't think Sanchito would be able to handle the pass rush, vs. IND and then MIN.

Anyway IMO it's going to be MIN vs IND in the Superbowl and either team can win. The two best pass rushing teams going head to head. I mention it again I just think it seperates them from the rest of the league, so many great teams this year, but that is the great equalizer.

I want Favre to be tested for HGH and steroids, dude is throwing like he's sub 30, I think he's using bigtime and I also think thats the reason he held out so long until it's out of his system or the testing period is over. I have no idea what the policy is but I have a big gut feeling he's dirty. I'm not a hater, I just don't buy what he's selling.
