Why not Stackhouse?

Post#1 » by dpaulh » Mon Jan 18, 2010 5:04 pm

I am a little disappointed that we didn't sign Stackhouse. I think that he could have helped our bench to make it even better, especially when we go cold on offense. I know with he and Crawford out there together they would be a bit of a liability on defense. However, he can still put the ball in the hoop and has a very good midrange game. We could use him in several different lineups and our crunch time back court could be Joe, Craw, and Stackhouse. That would be a nightmare for opposing defenses especially if you put Josh and Horford out there with them.

I know he is getting old, but I think he could have been a very valuable piece of the team in the second half of the season. As a fan, I just want to see us stockpile as many quality players as we can and we had a good chance to add another cheap one who actually said that we were his first choice. And I don't know, we may have tried and the two sides didn't come to an agreement. It just would have been a luxury to add him to an already very good bench.

I don't think he would be a good fit. You guys have enough scoring off the bench and a good defender in Evans. Stackhouse will not get much playing time. He signed with the Bucks. He was looking for playing time, not a playoff bound team.

Actually, he said he wanted to try and win a championship and mentioned us as the team he wanted to play for since he lives in Atlanta.

Sign him at who's expense? Mo Evans? He only plays 15.5 mpg and it is inconsistently. Joe, Jamal, or Bibby? Marvin? None of them are playing too many minutes.

Without an injury to a regular, Stackhouse just wouldn't have fit here. There aren't enough minutes to keep Stackhouse happy or show that he still has it. He wants to play with a contender, but he really wants steady minutes as well. He doesn't want to ride the pine and hope he gets a chance later.

If Sund thought Stackhouse had anything left in the tank we would have signed him when this talk was around during the beginning of the season.

He wouldn't fit in on this roster, and flat out is washed up. If he was an assit to anyone that wanted to win a championship he would have been signed long before a low to middle of the pack team lost their SG for the season.

I am still not on the Mo Evans bandwagon and I think Stackhouse would be an upgrade over him. I love that Rio is stealing some of Evans minutes at this point.

I've not been the biggest fan of Mo Evans play this year, but I don't think Mo Evans minutes would be enough to keep Stackhouse happy.

Mo has been pretty bad this year outside of that stretch where he made every three he took.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Evans has been playing about a 3rd fewer minutes this year because of Crawford. It's hard to complain about a guy when his playing time goes down like that.

Stackhouse is finished. Get over him. If he had anything at all left in the tank, someone would've already signed him.

My disappoint with Evans is not his offense this year as it is hard to get a rhythm with such limited minutes (he's either hot or he's not). I've been kind of disappointed with his defense. He's really racks up the fouls, which I don't mind aggressiveness, but he's committed a lot of silly fouls (or at least it seems that way). Maybe the coaches feel the same way and that's why Mario is getting an audition?

So he signed with Milwaukee...
