Garcia will go higher than Ebanks....then again Ebanks wont even come out this year, his season has been so horrid.
You used to be all over Henry, and had him higher than Johnson, maybe you changed your mind, I don't know.

Johnson reminds me of a slightly shorter Rashard Lewis.

Yeah, I used to have Henry higher and was hoping he would excel when the tough games came around - he didn't. Never was all over Henry, since I never rated him higher than Turner or Favors, just over Johnson because Henry was extremely efficient early on and showing great promise in his play on the court. Still love his potential, but his current production against tough competition doesn't warrant him being on the same tier I had him at before.
Not even going to get into your Ebanks/Garcia or Johnson/Granger/Marion takes anymore - kind of all

That's fine...roll your eyes, Wes Johnson will be between a Marion/Granger though.
And Ebanks won't declare if he has any good people around him.

Marion is pretty strong and physical guy, Johnson is more of a Brewer type, I think he will be more suited to guard shooting guards on pro level. I have my doubts about him becoming a star due to age but mostly due to lack of ability to create shots. Of course, he can prove me wrong though, he's got talent.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
Johnson is stronger than Brewer. He reminds me of Richard Jefferson a little bit, but I could see the Granger comparison. His age is a concern, but he seems like he could go right now. He is clearly in the top 10 if not clearly top 5 for me right now. I just want to see if he can continue this.

Dx had a nice recent write-up. They cite the age concern also.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
Watching Johnson in 1st half tonight.
Pretty sure i Just saw him hit a 3, next possession cruise by his man, and flush it. Then 2 possessions later, dribbled to middle of lane, and hit a jumper from 12 feet out.
Hasn't done a whole lot in the 2nd half so far, this seems to be the trend with Syracuse though. They get everyone involved, from Kris Joseph, to Jardine, to Jackson inside and Rautins from the outside, and that young freshman Triche is tough. Boeheim has that team philosophy with this team.
I think at the pro level, he will get more looks, and be a handful to guard.
I think he has more upside than anyone not named wall or turner in this draft.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
Syracuse game is on right now, and Johnson's scored I think 7 points in a row and broken up a transition opportunity for Notre Dame. It's the first time I've seen him that he's actually been impressive. His handle looks much better than it did in those games (although I've only seen him make more than two dribbles once thus far), low and controlled. The age still concerns me (it was the main impetus behind the Thornton comparison, although there are other similarities), but I figured I should say a nice thing or two about him after ragging on him a bit.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
he has a really high release on his mid range jumper. very, very, very high release. That will be his key weapon in the pro game.
The Thornton issue was not his age, is was his inability to play a team concept and have the BBIQ of a corn husk. (which we still notice now)

Sort of like Rashard Lewis...

28 pro scouts at the game tonight.
Harongody where do you think he will go ?
Dude is a beast at the college level. But everyone questions his NBA game. What do you think early 2nd, or does he have a shot at late 1st?

I think Harangody still goes mid to late second. The draft is too deep this year. In another year he might go early second, but not this year.

Age was definitely an issue with Thornton. He didn't start standing out until he was 22 and 23, older than most of his competition. That's a red flag. There were others, but age was certainly one of them.
It's a similar situation with Johnson, although in Johnson's case there are mitigating factors, since he looked promising as a frosh before laying an egg his sophomore year, and nobody outside of Syracuse knows how good he was last year.
due to that, this particular flag probably isn't a red one. Maybe burnt sienna, or vermillion.

The age was a note, a concern, but not a red flag.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
I guess it's possible we have different definitions of "red flag." If a player doesn't really start to stand out in college until he's older than most of his contemporaries, to me, that's a pretty big red flag. The kid that gets held back a year or two can dominate lower levels, but the pros are a different nut to crack. Thornton is pretty much the poster boy for that. In Johnson's case I'd say it's simply a note, a concern, as he showed more promise earlier on.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
I watched both the OSU v Nwestern game and the Ga tech v Clemson game * had 2 tvs going *
Evan turner had 20-13-8 with 2 steals and a block. He looked scary good, he just does whatever he wants out there. Amazing vision, hit some 3's today, showed surprisingly good handles driving to the bucket and finishing. Unreal talent.
Derrick Favors had one of his better games with like 17 and 14 or something like that and a couple blocks. He still needs to really work on developing a mid range game ( has none ) and a go to post move. You can see the kid is just oozing with raw potential and ability, but he's going to be a project, could take hiim 3-5 years to really blossom.
Gani Lawal is a great energy player, for a big guy he REALLY runs that court hard, and is physical down low. Some team will get a good player in him late 1st round.
Booker for Clemson looked pretty solid too, another late 1st round type, he doesn't stand out, but he's solid all round.

Any interest in Gawal on this team with maybe a late pick? His ability to run the floor sounds nice and his energy would be a welcome addition coming off the bench.

No interest. Can't see him fitting here with Jefferson and Love. Even if one of them is traded I'd rather want to sign Pekovic than Lawal.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
I'd take Lawaii with a late first, sure. He doesn't have to be a great fit, as long as he's a good player. If he doesn't fit, but plays like a Paul Milsap-Dejuan Blair - then it's good value and we can always trade him for a better pick in the future. The odds of a late first turning out are not good, so at that point you need to take the players that are going to make it in the NBA.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
Big night for prospect watching tonight. Aminu, Ed Davis, and Henson on ESPN, Lance Stephenson and Dominique Jones on ESPN2, and Greg Monroe on ESPNU, all at 6:00 CST, then the main event, Ekpe Udoh and Baylor take on Aldrich, Xavier Henry and Kansas at 8:00 CST.
Also, I watched most of Clemson Georgia Tech last night, and Favors had probably his best game of the season. It could have been even better if not for some silly fouls, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.
