So like I said, the Lakers would eat us alive

Post#1 » by Captain_Caveman » Tue Jan 19, 2010 4:46 am

Anyone care to refute that now, or are we just going to make excuses about KG being hurt, even though that was entirely predictable a few months ago?

Bottom line: We should have traded Ray in the offseason and gotten more for our $20m.

A few months ago, we probably could have gotten Monta Ellis and either Stephen Jackson or Maggette.

Dallas still offers Howard, Barea, Najera for Allen?

I have the NBA package and will turn the lakers game on in hopes they lose. Lakers simply get the job done and are the best team in the NBA.

I don't what anybody says it is alarming how the celtics have been playing since they beat the magic on Christmas. Yes I know KG has been hurt but regardless this team should not be playing this badly.
Reggie stood out like a sore thumb no tattoos no agenda no chirping nothing Just a guy who could score at will He played college ball at Northeastern he replaced Larry as Celtics captain he belonged to Boston.
And I still miss him. Even now.

You bet, soul.

Hate to say it, but it is true. All I wanted was to make a trade to help us take them.

I have no confidence at all in this Geritol Gang to be playing with any legs come May and June.

As was said in tonight's broadcast, we just have to work too hard for our points.

I also hate to admit this but I am staring to lose interest watching the games and this is coming from the guy who watched every game in2006/ 2007 when they lost 18 straight.

It just has been the same old same old for the past month. The can pretty much beat average teams (except the Clippers) they then continuously lose to younger athletic teams by melting down in the second half. The Hawks twice and the bulls once just manhandled them. It really irks me they are losing games at home. Celtics have only won 4 game since Christmas for gods sake!

Since the trades celtics had a 3-4 year window to win a title and they did the first year which was amazing. What it comes down to is that this is just a team showing it's age. Ray Allen is slowing down, PP has been hurt and while he has played well he is just not as good as he was 2 years ago. Who knows at this point if KG will ever be the same? Honestly can we even rely on KG anymore to stay healthy?

I am not saying blow this team up this year but Ainge has to be looking at this roster and understand that changes may be needed sooner rather than later to avoid that 22 years of hell this team and the fans went through.

We are age old team. We need everyone to stay healthy to even have a chance to win the title. Usually teams that team a title are the ones that have a super star player. We don't anymore. The only way we win is if the play defense like Doc had invisioned before the start of the season.

Are you saying we'd also get eaten alive if healthy - with KG and Marquis? I definitely don't think so. Only a caveman would think that. Or a captain maybe. Or both.

Lakers are deeper and healthier than us right now, so of course they'll look better in a long 82 game season.

I expect us to rev it up for the playoffs. It looked bad in the playoffs last year, down KG and Powe, but we turned it up and we were in the driver's seat through five games in the second round. Assuming we're healthy for the playoffs this year, I'd expect a very competitive Lakers/Celtics Finals.

Yea they beat the Orlando Magic today by 6...Magic have sucked just as bad as us lately..so idk where this LA ball slobbing is coming from. They don't impress me much. Their bench is still just as bad as ours..they are just healthier right now, and they do what it takes to win. They don't take naps duringt he game.. No way in hell does Kobe Bryant allow his troops to WALK ALL OVER THE COURT like a certain 55 milllion dollar PG was doing today. A healthy Celtics team can take LA anyday..they could beat us too, but eat as alive is pussy talk. We have alot of pussies here though, so I'm not surprised.

Not that much deeper. When healthy, we are probably deeper then them. Unless you like Vujacic and Farmar..

Farmar would get decent minutes here and Vujacic is basically their Tony Allen equivalent. I'd say when the two teams are healthy, we're about equally as deep, but the fact that we aren't and are more injury prone than them gives me the false impression that they're deeper.

So basic summary: Health's the difference between them and us right now.

Well we're sort of healthy and sort of not, Kobe is banged up, Pau has had hamstring problems and we have a bunch of guys with other nagging injuries. But yes compared to the injuries the Celtics have had to absorb it's a big difference, your key guys are missing games. And as far as "taking naps".........it happens all to often to the Lakers, we did it tonight in the 3rd.

As far as the eat alive talk.......I'm not buying it, what you'd have is two to best teams going toe to toe. Games and series like that are based on taking advantage of match ups and weakness or whatever it is they think they can exploit. Neither team is going to back down.....in other words it won't be that easy for either team.

We are missing KG, which was totally predictable, especially given how he was running like a gimp all through camp and the early season. It's more than getting kicked in the knee, guys. Get serious.

As for Daniels, please LOL at me if I ever use that as an excuse for anything, especially given his own injury history before we signed him, and his rather limited impact on the floor.

Ultimately, we are not that much more banged up than LA or anyone else.

The problem, as I see it, is what is a reasonable expectation for team performance once the real games start? The Celts are already as legless as last year's Orlando series, and it is only mid-January.

It's not going to get better the longer the season goes on.

LMAO. We would eat up the Lakers alive with KG healthy if they were missing Kobe. Likewise we would eat up the Cavs if they were missing Lebron. Your being ridiculous... Of course we get beat missing a former MVP all-star big man surefire HOF guy!
