Offer made for Nate Rob

Post#1 » by CelticsMillerJayhawks31 » Tue Jan 19, 2010 11:03 pm

http://celticshub.com/2010/01/19/cs-hav ... -robinson/

The trade rumors swirling around Nate Robinson had appeared to calm down in recent weeks, but Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports has reported today during an interview with Tanguay and Zolak on 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston, that he has knowledge that the C’s have made an offer to the Knicks for the ever controversial guard Nate Robinson.

Any idea who you'd be giving up?I think this is a very realistic scenario as Boston is a team Nate would definitely go to (he has a veto).
Barring a major surge where the Knicks get to .500 I see Walsh trading Nate at the deadline----I personally think that Allen would be a decent fit for the Knicks but since Nate gives you guys a true spark off the bench and was considered for 6th man award last season this trade would be in your favor. Therefore I think you should add your first round pick which is gonna be 28-30 anyway.

I'm all right with this. The issue with this team right now is our offense and lack of dependency from the bench. I probably wouldn't mind seeing Nate replace Eddie's role.

I know the best we can offer is

expiring contract(Scalabrine,T.Allen,Giddens,Walker,Williams,Daniels,House)
+ 2010 or 2011 first round pick

Would that be enough?
----------------------------------
Just to remember: Memphis pick(LAL or DEN? 2010)+exp.(Williams) was ok for Walsh.Robinson vetoed.
----------------------------------

Either way its got to be a 3 way:

BOS/NY/TEAM 3?

BOS:
-Gets in 4 mio contract of Nate

-Must send to ny 2mio to max 2,5mio(Only T.Allen contract fits OR Giddens+Williams)
-Must send another 2 mio to another team for trade exception OR to a team under the cap

NY:
Out goes Nate and half his salary(BYC) = 2mio

Dont hate on him... the bench has very little offense, he brings that
the team has very little energy right now, he brings that too..

I actually get the feeling that IF he was ever brought on KG and Sheed especially would love having this dude on the team, he can make huge plays and take over second units while our other scorers like paul and ray take a break

i hope we get him.. i dont think we will, but it would be great to get another impact player

sure there are some negatives, but to pick up a decent player with our scraps there are always going to be some

I honestly think Allen+ 2010 first rounder would be enough BUT it depends on the following:

If the Knicks are in the playoff hunt they'd probably just keep Nate but if they aren't then they'd most likely do the deal at the deadline. Either way I think if the Knicks make a Robinson deal it'll be much closer to the deadline.

They will be 8th or 9th around trade deadline, because their schedule till then is probably the easiest in NBA...check out.

BUT

They have no chance to make it because after the allstar break and especially last 19 games(13 away) are deadly.I expect them to finish 9th or 10th.

You can take Lee along with Nate if you take Jeffries and Curry.

BTW there is some discussion on the knick board whether the Celtics would be willing to take Jeffries' final year in a Nate deal ? You could send Scalabrine,Toney and House back--we buy them out and they sign back with you.
Could you see your front office considering that or would that be out of the realm of possibilities?

That's an interesting idea but probably more beneficial to the Knicks. I'm a fan of Jeffries but most ppl on this board despise the guy. If this trade goes through and NY opens up more cap space to actually do something with then Ainge gets blamed - that's probably why he would pass on Jeffries. Sounds to me like NYK should only trade Nate w/ either Jeffries or Curry to anyone that would take it.

Which means nobody. Jefferies and Curry are worthless and Nate certainly doesn't make up for it.

Ugh, I despise Robinson.

That would be harder than liking Payton when he joined the Celtics.

I don't see how we can work Jeffries into the deal, although I'm not totally opposed to it since he's the type of long, lean defender we don't have. But where do the contracts come from to match his?

Nate for Scal plus 1st rounder would be ideal, but NY would want more. I suppose since they are looking to move him and Nate has to approve of the trade that it gives the C's a certain amount of leverage. Maybe the offer was TA + Giddens + pick or something similar. Tony might be the odd man out since there wouldn't be enough minutes to go around. I'd like to keep TA, but the team really needs a sparkplug player to come off the bench and create his own shots.

I dislike Robinson, but our bench is dead. If we can get him for expirings, I do it. This is like a Dillon/Moss to the Patriots move, huge talent with issues being controlled by veteran leadership and a winning mentality.

I still have my concern for bench depth though. Now's when I wish Doc gave Bill or JR more minutes, so one could step up until Quis got back, because it's going to at least take Allen.

I've never liked Robinson as I think he's a dirty player. I've seen him shove people in the back while they were in the air, etc, that could get someone hurt for no reason. However that was more a couple years ago, hopefully he has toned that sort of thing down.

That said, he'd probably be the energy guy and playmaker the bench needs. **** or not, he is an amazing guy to watch as well. I can't believe I'm saying it but if it happens I'll probably be happy about it. Even against us watching him dunk gets me out of my seat.
