Hey, a lot of people on the Blazer board are brainstorming ways to get us another center before the trade deadline. A lot of names pop up over an over again (Haywood, Varejao, Dalembert, Okafor, etc.), but one name I haven't heard mentioned is Zaza Pachulia. I know he isn't getting a lot of minutes with you guys and his contract matches up with Steve Blake. He would be serviceable for us for the rest of the year, and would fit in fine as a third C next year when Oden and Przybilla return.
Blake for Pachulia?
Blake would be a very solid back-up to Bibby, has a great 3-point shot, and can manage an offense. Interested?

Re: Trade with Portland?
This is the first year we've had depth on the inside and I don't believe we'd jettison that for another guard. Barring injury Blake wouldn't get enough minutes behind the Johnson/Bibby/Crawford rotation to make him of much use to us. We'd say no, quickly and firmly.
A better target for you might be Jeff Foster in Indiana. He's a little too expensive for Blake straight up under cap rules, but Blake's expiring deal and Howard's expiring contract work under the cap. They'd probably buy-out Howard and you could get him back after a month. Foster's got 1 more year on his deal after this one, so Indiana's motivation would the cap savings for next year making sure they stay under the tax threshold. If that's not enough you might have to sweeten the deal with a draft pick.

i see you forgot or not realize that the Hawks drafted Jeff Teague. In addition, Crawford has been backing up Bibby more than he has been backing up Joe.

Re: Trade with Portland?
Yeah it doesn't make much sense for the Hawks. zaza is playing a decent amount, around 15 mpg, which is solid enough for a backup. Blake isn't needed with Crawford playing a lot of point, as well as Teague getting some pt there.

Unfortunately, teams don't do small -for- big...and that's because of the lack of big men.

Would you trade Oden for Zaza?
Zaza/Przybilla would make for a solid rotation for years.

My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Re: Trade with Portland?
We didnt go after Blake when he was a free agent... Why would we trade our bench center off a guard heavy team. Want ZaZa??? ok fine he's not untouchable. Give us Bayless

i don't like Zaza but I can't see trading him unless the Hawks get a big in return. They are undersized already.
Make it Zaza for Prz and i would do it.

Re: Trade with Portland?
You all make very valid points. Blake for Zaza doesn't really fit on your end... NM.
As your your questions? No, I wouldn't trade Oden for Zaza. Please.
I would trade Joel for Zaza. I love Joel, but he might well be out until the mid-way point of next season and he may not ever return to being the player he was before the injury. This was a SERIOUS injury. If both were healthy, I'd say no. But that isn't the case. And Zaza is a lot cheaper . . . Done deal.
Bayless for Zaza? No thank you. There are plenty of other center's available that wouldn't require giving up Bayless. Blazer nation is really, really high on Bayless right now. I think Bayless is our future at PG, no doubt.
You want LMA??? I'll do LMA, Bayless, and Outlaw for Josh Smith, Horford, and Teague. But I might be the only Blazer fan that feels that way. I dunno.

LOL I didn't even know Pryz was out. No offense but it is hard keeping track of all Portland's injuries. It is to their credit they are still finding ways to win.

LMA is not worth Josh Smith, let alone tossing in Horford and Teague for Bayless and Outlaw.

I didn't realize that Joel P. may be out for that long. I take it he's gonna opt-in for next year then...
