Dude, I was a guest maybe 10 minutes and thats just because the thing refreshed on me when I was idle. Very, very annoying to be unable to get back on.

For Christ sake.

Either way, I wasn't even aware of it. I was surprised to see I wasn't signed on and very annoyed to discover I couldn't get back in.

There is no rational reason to ban guests. They can't even post as guests. Its stupid.

The issue with that is teams like the Lakers who acquired a big time player (Chris Bosh) with the assumption that they'd be able to lock him up to a long term extension before he hit the free agent market, because you know the Lakers in real life wouldn't trade Bynum for Bosh unless Bosh got an extension first. There should be a short list of players who would actually sign an extension, i.e. LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh, etc. depending on what their teams look like.

99.9% of these trades wouldn't actually go down in real life.

I remember two games ago, pretty much all but say 2 major free agents had resigned before 2010 summer came around. The best player left was like Mike Bibby or something stupid like that.

I think extensions shouldn't be allowed. We all judge players values differently.

One problem I had before, is that FA's would resign for less money than what they would have received had they waited to FA period. Players don't have "agents" so they have no idea what other gm's are thinking about offering them. They may feel that $8 mil is a great deal and resign with their team, without knowing that there might be GM's out there waiting to offer $12 mil.

now I see where your going wrong.
the salary cap for next season is 54 million not 58

58 is this seasons.

but I still may have the extension wrong. CBA guys are arguing it out actually lol.
It would actually drop his total guaranteed earnings by almost 50 million to sign an extension right now it seems.

heres a quick why.

Free Agent
105% of his previous salary with 10.5% raises for 6 years if he waits till FA.
$16,568,907 10/11
$18,308,642 11/12
$20,048,377 12/13
$21,788,112 13/14
$23,527,847 14/15
$25,267,583 15/16
$125,509,468

Extension
$15,779,912 09/10 current salary year counts.
$17,149,243 2010/11: this is the final year of the contract
$18,006,705 2011/12: 105% of final year of contract
$19,807,376 2012/13: 10.5% raise based on original contract final year $17,149,243
$21,608,046 2013/14: 10.5% raise based on original contract final year $17,149,243
$92,351,282

thus he would make $125,509,468 + $15,779,912 = 141,289,380 until 2015/2016 Age 32 by becoming a FA
or $92,351,282 until 2013/2014 Age 30 by signing an extension

I am over the cap. If I trade a player for a TPE with an over the cap team. Do I get the TPE to use in future trades?

if he was then to sign another extension during 2013/2014 based on the current CBA he could not get the same amount of money.

Extension
$15,779,912 09/10 current salary year counts.
$17,149,243 2010/11: this is the final year of the contract
$18,006,705 2011/12: 105% of final year of contract
$19,807,376 2012/13: 10.5% raise based on original contract final year $17,149,243
$21,608,046 2013/14: 10.5% raise based on original contract final year $17,149,243
$92,351,282
$22,688,448 2014/2015 Etension 105% of previous year $21,608,046
$23,876,890 2015/2016 10.5% raise of final year of original contract $21,608,046
$26,145,735 2016/2017 10.5% raise of final year of original contract $21,608,046
$28,414,580 2017/2018 10.5% raise of final year of original contract $21,608,046
$193,476,935 total

which would be
$92,351,282 + $22,688,448 + $23,876,890 = $138,916,620 < $141,289,380
at age 32
and

and even then whos to say that a contract extension wouldn't be signed at that same time for the other FA contract which would give him.

$15,779,912 09/10
$16,568,907 10/11
$18,308,642 11/12
$20,048,377 12/13
$21,788,112 13/14
$23,527,847 14/15
$25,267,583 15/16
$141,289,380
$26,530,962 2016/2017 Extension 105% of final year
$27,920,679 2017/2018 10.5% raise of final year of original contract $25,267,583
$195,741,021

so at age 34 he can either earn $193,476,935 with two contract extensions Age 26 and Age 30
or $195,741,021 one contract extension at age 30

yes you get the TPE for the exact amount of the player you are trading

if your players salary is 2 million then your TPE is 2 million

Sorry one more question. If a player was signed in the game(vet minimum) are they guaranteed? If they are not, does that mean they can be waived without a cap hit?

most contract details can be found on shamsports.

when you go in to the salaries page for say portland, at the botom of the list there is a link called

Total w/o options $56,443,422 $49,354,718 $40,790,174 $35,071,805 $31,907,458 $15,256,000
Portland Trail Blazers

Additional contract notes and details (click for pop-up)

however, it depends on the player since most min contracts are guaranteed yes you would have to take the cap hit. If it is not guaranteed then what I have been doing is using the regular season to determin cap hits.

if John Doe is signed to unguaranteed contract with Portland and Portland has played 38 games so far this season in Real Life.

then it would be _Salary_ x 38/82 = ??????? for the cap hit

Got a number of solid assets I'm looking to consolidate:

Memphis 1st rounder (likely mid rounder)
Denver 1st rounder (likely mid rounder, possibly lottery given loss of Billups and Nene and general youth movement)
LAL 1st rounder
James Johnson
Sam Young
Mike Conley
Hasheem Thabeet

All solid and reletively inexpensive pieces for a team looking to rebuild. Most likely looking for more of a win-now center, but point guard also a possibility.

Randolph is also available in trades, but he's having an all star caliber year (21/10 with 50% fg), so is considered a positive asset.

Mayo and Granger absolutely will not be traded unless I am getting the best player in the deal.
