C'mon Coach Hollins.

He's a liability on defense, so please stop putting him out there at the end of games.

Can we amend "place a center on the court" to this petition?

I know DeMarre will eventually grow into quite the rotational player for us for years to come, but he is just bad on both ends at this point in his career, and certainly not good enough to warrant playing the very last possession in a tie game. I know he needs court time to develop, but not during crucial moments in a game.

You can't expect a guy that plays like a chicken running around with his head cut off to make a stop late in the game. They knew he was a total liability and they went right at him and got an easy basket. I know coaches are often used as scapegoats, but that loss was on Lionel. Carroll had no business being in that position.

/sarcasm on
Seeing DeMarre in action at the end of the game, getting schooled by Posey made me feel horrible as a Grizz fan, but great about myself! Seriously, here's a world class athlete doing no better than I could have done last night. He looked just as lost and out of place as I would have.

The foul OJ made on the play was worse than Carroll getting shook by someone with no shake.

I do agree a rookie guarding a veteran during crunch time is a recipe for disaster. If Pega was on the floor that would have been a better assignment? Mayo should have been moved unto Paul earlier in the quarter to stop the bleeding so all in all, this was not Hollins finest hour. Although you do have to build confidence in your guys and hope they respond. Tonight they did not. The starters are being worn down.

I haven't liked the way Carroll has played lately. I think I used the term manic in describing him in another thread. He is a little out of control, doesn't seem to have a high enough IQ in the pro game yet, and tries to make up for it by running all over the place and often gets out of position.

But he is a rookie, has shown some good athleticism,is willing to bust his butt every time on the floor, and it's difficult to criticize him too much since we've seen other young players take time to learn the game.

But I'll sign the petition to keep the starters on the floor at the end of games.

Please explain to me how the foul was worse. Posey missed the freethrow and it actually took less time for Gasol to grab the board (.3 secs) than it would have taken for Posey to continue to drive freely to the basket for a bucket. I guarantee you we would have had less than .8 seconds left if anything at all if OJ doesn't stop the clock early with that foul. It would have likely been a dunk at the buzzer.

I was watching this game last night and wondered the same thing. Why is DeMarr Carroll in right now?
That was a heart breaker for sure, but I think your team has the resilency to bounce back fast.

I think you guys missed the Utah Jazz game where he came in and shut them down on the last possession that translated to a win.

I guess it's sad but he's one of the better defenders we got. However, his offense is not good enough for the NBA. I don't think he will be more than a bench guy ever.

Carroll pretty much fills the role of a hustle player every team needs like Lou Amundson or Eduardo Najera. And yeah, unless something drastic happens we're looking at a bench player.

Funny thing is there are a lot of Najera guys from his era that did make more of themselves (Dhantay Jones and Nocioni I am thinking of). But Nocioni is still kind of a 6th man anyways.

Thing about those players is they have higher BBIQs.

DeMarre almost always takes a bad shot.
