I'm getting a celtics jersey t-shirt with Len Bias' name on the back. Too soon?

I think it's less about timing, and more about what your trying to say. Whenever I see anything about Bias, I usually feel depressed.

That's a good point. I always wonder what Bias jerseys are trying to promote. If you've actually seen him play live, were a fan of his game, and can hold an intelligent conversation about him then go for it - there's your case for getting the shirt. If not, it's just kind of morbid. Here's a question to ask yourself: Would I have bought this shirt if Bias was living? Is this trivializing Bias' actual achievements or glorifying his tragedy? Not trying to be too over the top about it but I definitely make judgement calls on the Bias shirt.

First and foremost, the cat could play ball. Secondly, while it may be depressing to think of what could have been, there is also a mythical quality to the team that never happened and I don't think alot of the public realizes that the lull in championships wouldnt have been as noticable had an young potential hall of famer joined that squad. All this, and, I consider myself somewhat of a history buff, so I would enjoy explaining this shirt to the lay person, without actually finding joy in the tragedy of what happened. AND I would also enjoy having the only Bias t-shirt on campus, thus laying claim to the title of biggest celtics fan on campus as well.

It would be nice if you could add "What might have been" some where on the shirt.

If anything I could see it as a don't do drugs message.

On a similar note does anyone have a Reggie Lewis jersey?

I have a Reggie Lewis jersey. I got one about a year before he died. Wore it on the day he died, but haven't since...

kansas, I'm all for it but with two suggestions:
1) No name on the back, front or anywhere else - just an image. Classier.
2) Game action image - no profile of any sort. A face pic would be creepy.

Anybody remember the draft picture of Bias? Man those Elmer Fudd hats were horrible. It looked like he was going to hunt some Wabbit.

I special-ordered a Reggie Lewis shirt last year. He was my favorite player when he died, and I had been pleading with my father to buy me a Lewis jersey for my birthday. I had a small poster of him over my bed, along with similar posters of Larry, Chief, Kevin and DJ.

I think Bias is different. Unless you were a HUGE Bias fan, it's in odd taste. And even if you were, you're going to get odd looks.

I have a Reggie jersey from before his passing but I don't wear it. I still have an old shredded poster hiding somewhere too.

I could see a Maryland Bias jersey I guess, but he never played for Boston so it seems kind of weird to me.
