Anybody have league pass HELP

Post#1 » by Dexmor » Fri Jan 22, 2010 12:06 am

Are Bobcats games blacked out? I just got league pass for the Cats but I forgot they might black them out.
Does anybody know if they do? I live in Raleigh

Yup, unless it's one of those that Fox Sports isn't showing...which I think tomorrow vs. ATL will be such a case.

I'm pretty excited about it...LP Broadband is pretty awesome.

Google Hotspot Shield. You have to have a fast internet to use it and watch NBA LP Broadband though.

Hotspot Shield bypasses the blackouts.

Yea, all of the games are blacked out. TWC used to run a channel called Special Events (145) for the games on Sportssouth (and apparently ONLY for SS games, because I've never seen it activated otherwise), but they haven't done that in 2010. Maybe they switched something, because I remember getting an e-mail from the Bobcats when Fox was going through negotiations with Timewarner, Fox SS was a channel that was supposed to be dropped but the letter ensured Cats fans the games would stay available, but I haven't found them.

Maybe its just because I live in Wilmington but none of my Bobcats games are blacked out. I usually get the away broadcast. I have no idea why though.

There is a way around this, if you don't mind getting another markets local channels.

Well see I expect the games on FSC to be blacked out but thats fine cause I have that channel.

FoxSportsSouth in Raleigh does not have the option to order and see the games there so I would think they wouldn't black them out because they people have no way to watch it no matter they do.

Anybody not get games on sportsouth that has league pass and if so are they blacked out or is it just the FSC that is blacked out.
PLease Help if you know.

I get Fox Sports South that plays Bobcats games. Although I will say this, on my TV guide channel it states that this channel is FSC, but its not.

Walt,

I live in Charlotte but I'm going to be visiting some family in Raleigh this weekend who have Time Warner Cable.

I had originally planned on watching Saturday's Orlando game on SportSouth while I was there but it sounds like, based on your post, Raleigh's SportSouth doesnt air the games.

Am I going to be SOL?

The problem is that TWC in Raleigh has never carried the Sports South channel at all, not that SS is deciding to not air the games. However, I just looked and the "Special Events" channel (145) is activated today and tonight's game is listed at 7:30, so you may get lucky tomorrow night. However, there have been times where the channel was active, the game was listed and there was still no feed when it was go time, so who knows.

If the provider has the option of providing it to you but doesn't (probably because they don't want to pay the extra fee) then yes...it'll be blocked.

Been my experience anyway...and I cancelled my LP too because of it.

If you got LP only to watch the Bobcats and live in NC or SC, then you should definitely cancel.

How do you do that?

Change your billing address on DirecTV to an address that is outside of the blackout zone, then email them and say you're receiving the wrong local channels for your area. They should then switch it to local channels for the billing zip code area.

Rich that actually works?

Well the game was blacked out and for some reason it was on a channel called the special events channel which was feed of the FSS game which I don't understand what's going on there. Will they always play the FSS games there now?
If so I am happy I canceled league pass.
They told me I couldn't cancel but the guy on the phone told me he will put in notes I never ordered which is only fair because they lied and said there were no blackouts and you can cancel anytime when the truth is there are and you can't.

If i get the FSS games now anyway with FSC I am gonna be so f-ing happy.

Anybody know about special events channel?

Post#20 » by Dexmor » Sat Jan 23, 2010 7:34 am

The Hawks came was televised here in Raleigh on a chanel called special events channel which was fss but it was on a channel called special events channel. Does anybody know if it will be like this the rest of the season?
I hope so now that they are winning. Its crazy to live in raleigh and only get 40 games. I would be extactic if I got the rest of the games here on it.
