Otherwise he's just a very poor man's Gilbert, and a poor man's Gilbert is a backup in the NBA.

Gill is an expensive man version of a starting PG in my view.

No D in Arenas
Flack
Shot jacking
Low shooting %
Not enough of a leader
111M

I'd rather have Foye.

Read the stats I posed or just look them up. He just needs more game under his belt as a starter so his total average catches up with what he is doing as a starter. He only has 9 games under his belt since we started him with this new line up- No Gil . Those Jan stats would only look better if you removed his the first two games of the when he didn't start.

And the icing on the cake is that he isn't going to demand you sign him to a max contract so you can have a more solid team build around him.

Yeah, I know what you mean Hands.

I waffle on Arenas quite a bit, but just not having all that drama and uncertainty would be a huge relief and it well just might be the way to go. I mean, last we heard Arenas isn't even willing to talk to Jamison. Why? Because he actually came out and actually said that Gil basically got himself into that situation?

Something to be said for a little bit of 'steady as she goes' even if you take a talent hit.

Whether or not Foye can really be a starting point guard, I'm not sure of at this time, but he is flexible enough to work out for us in another role.

The Randy Foye Story Video

I had heard they were going to do this but I missed it. Maybe this needs to start a new thread.

Wow, and you though Gil had it tough. This guy lost both of his parents.

Not sure how many players in the NBA have this kind of background but we seem to get our share on the Wizards. Kwame had a rough. CBs story is pretty well known. GA's mother left and we see how it affected him. Not here is the Foye story. Father died going threw a car window in an accident running from the cops after robbing a liquir store and his mother was kid napped and murdered because she was selling drugs and a deal went bad.

But he seems at peace with his past. He says don't feel sorry for me, that was the hand I was given. Now he has a foundation to help kids. He seems a lot more mentally balanced then Gil. Seems like a guy I could really pull for. He is already a success in my book. I hope he can keep it up on the court. He could become on of my favorite players

I didn't know anything about Foye's story. I know it's just short term and could go away any time, but I've really liked the way he's filled in at PG. Lost both his parents and (as a tweener) can't find his position in the pros, but he's doing a pretty good job right now, and maybe he'll find a place here. Might end up being the happiest story in a pretty lousy year.

OK, I'll bite. Who do you suggest and how do we get him?
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

^ As an outsider we'd (Toronto) give you Jose Calderon in a swap for Butler but you guys didn't seem to high on that trade in the trade thread above. Maybe we also take Deshawn off your hands in exchange for expirings?

Jose might not be the greatest defender but he's as pure as they come at the PG position. Turnovers are a rarity, high assist numbers and great shooting percentages.

Calderon is junk in my opinion. I'd rather have Foye for a fraction of the cost.

Agreed. Hell, if Butler was a completely worthless deadweight contract that expired in 2011, he'd still be better than Jose. I'd rather pay a blind cripple $10M next year than Jose $26M over the next 3 years. The fact that Butler can still play is gravy.

If you'll don't mind, this is a Foye thread.

So how many new about the Foye story told in the video I posted ?

Foye started hot. I kind of want to see him keep going for it but it seemed like he got us back and then try to let other player to step up with him but here was no one there tonight to help. I like it in a way. It was unselfish but at the same time he was the only hot hand at the time.

Foye gave a classy post game. I think Im a Foye fan.

I did...I grew up, live and work in and around where he grew up...he needs a lot more credit than he receives...though he is closer to a combo guard than obviously a true pg in this league...I think IF the Wizards commit to giving him 30+ min. for the rest of the season, you should have a very good idea of what the future holds...With those type of starting minutes, this year could give great perspective on what type of player you have...

(Its a challenge for Randy...I definitely feel he's at that juncture where he's starting to figure things out with how he should or needs to play in the NBA to be successful, its just a matter of doing it on a consistent basis...)
