dorian, good to hear from you and that you're doing alright!
Honestly, since the idea of appreciation thread died out despite there being many others deserving recognition, I'd just as soon see this thread locked. I don't want to be singled out.
Otherwise, I'd have suggested someone start TheSecretWeapon/WizardsKev appreciation thread.....

Re: The Chocolate City Jordanaire Appreciation Thread
Before Morris Almond was drafted I thought he'd be a great NBA player. Jon Givony's scout Joseph Teutelin said back then I was wrong. He said the guy didn't look that great playing against other players in workouts. Through the test of time, Almond's been released by the Jazz and is now in the D-League. I hate to admit when I'm wrong.
What made me think he'd be so good is that his stats in college had an unreal amount of FT attempts and I thought he'd be a good rebounder, too, as a pro. However, with the Jazz he didn't show a propensity to get to the line. He didn't even shoot the ball well.
So far in the D-League, he's averaging 28.2 ppg on .517 FG shooting, .393 3PT, and .828 FT, and 4.7 rebs. He's getting to the line about 11 times a game. He probably deserves a second crack at minutes.

As good as Almond's stats are, without a doubt, this player who IIRC led the NCAAs in scoring is very likely a better player: Reggie Williams

Shooting .591 FG and .390 3PT and .806 FT and 5.9 rebs, what Williams does is pass the ball reasonably well, with a 1:1 A/TO ratio.

There are a lot of things that he's been right on that other's on this board shared the same opinion (paying Gil so much money, selecting Blair). However, there have also been a lot of things I think he has been wrong on (I could be wrong, but when Pecherov began playing the season well for MN, he said he knew Pech would fourish somewhere else). And while I don't oppose playing Young and Blatche more, I also think CCJ is wrong that this team would be better by just inserting Young and Blatche in the starting line-up. And, at the very least, until that happens and its shown to be a success, CCJ hasn't been proven right yet with any of his rotation suggestions. Based on what I have watched of this season thus far, this team has sucked irregardless of which rotations have been in the line-up.
The bottom line is I'm not "hating" on CCJ. Like I said, I like CCJ and respect his posts a lot. The thing I respect the most about him is he ADMITS when he is proven wrong. The thing I don't understand is having an appreciation thread for one person whose opinion has been right on occasion. If we are going to be doing that, we might as well have an appreciation thread for Nate, Dat2U, Fish, SecretWeapon, Barleyawake, and a host of other posters on this board, because they have been also been right (and wrong) about a few things too.
Gotta agree here. I respect CCJ's posts, but there are many other posters who've accurately pointed out problems with this team. Not sure how any one person stands out above the others?
Obviously, I've rethought my position on this type of thread. I think I was looking at this with a closed mind the first time around. We should be able to appreciate posters, whether it's for a particular point or for their body of work. Especially in years where the team's record is so far south of .500 so that there's not much more to post about.

You're the man, CCJ, but apparently these threads are not too productive on this board.
