Time to Shut Down Devin

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Sat Jan 23, 2010 6:43 am

in the medical sense, that is. On-the-court, defenders haven't had much trouble shutting down Devin all season! :p

Seriously, though, THAT is the problem. You can't help but respect that he is not at 100% health, trying to hone leadership skills in the midst of one of the worst seasons in the history of the league. He has handled himself with dignity through this entire process, and hasn't whined to management about his teammates or asked to be traded. Still, and I hate to say it, but he's not helping us win games right now. Keyon has performed well in a starting role when called upon, and Quinn and T-Will can help fill backup minutes. We'll survive; Harris, the long-term asset, is far more important at this point IMO.

I say we put him on ice until at least after the All-Star break.

Bump that.
This team and Devin himself need to get their **** together now!
We need to win some games.
This is embarrassing and unwatchable basketball.
They are doing a disservice to the fans and the NBA as a whole.

Devin's out tonight, and I hope he seriously takes time to return.

I am convinced that his groin is still bothering him, and now he's RE-aggravated his wrist. He can't shoot, run or defend that way he needs in order to be an asset to our team. I'm not talking about a TRADE asset either, just a positive impact. You keep toying with these little nagging injuries at this point in the season, and before you know it Harris is sidelined with something major that will impact NEXT year.

I think though, if we rest him now for 3 weeks or so (maybe more...), he CAN get back to his usual self.

OP made a point about devin not complaining and is still out there. I am surprised really and im glad. Devin is clearly injured and the dude still goes out there on a 3 win team knowing nothing good will happen this season and instead of shutting it down like most all stars would do he would still go out there. I hope he just take all the time he needs of even if its months.

Isn't this what the opposition has been doing every night?

I can't tell if it's the opposition or coach Kiki's gameplan.

I'd appreciate it if you were to use quotation marks when referencing Kiki as a "coach".

Well, I was glad to see Devin was shut down Wednesday. And I was REALLY glad to see us win Wednesday. BUT, I can't help but wonder if it's eating up Devin inside, to know that we played better without him.

OBVIOUSLY, Harris is huge positive for this team WHEN HE'S HEALTHY. But both he and our FO need to realize that Devin playing at 75% is a disservice to him and to us, both in the short -and the long-term.

Come back soon, Devin (just not too soon).

Man I hope we can get good value for him like a lottery pick or a solid young player because these nagging injuries are starting to get to me. He's always got a ankle injury or something that keeps him from 100%. Please trade this guy for someone who can stay on the court.
