The article is right, the problem is that a player has a lot more at stake than just winning the championship. For a coach like Phil and the franchise the only thing that matters is that ring and the trophy. For a player as good as Kobe winning is still the most important thing but these types of players need the glory--winning and glory. A game like this people will remember. What it comes down to is once a player has a lot of rings and their career is over people start looking at other things. All those championships begin to blur together and get taken for granted. Everyone wants to be remembered in the most positive way possible and if the only thing standing in the way of that is a few minutes playing time in one quarter of course Kobe is going to be upset especially when the person making all the decisions doesn't have the same concerns as he does.

Gasol is an amazing player but he choked in Cleveland missing 2 free throws and he choked today when he was too afraid to take a shot when Kobe passed him the ball for an open shot and a 1 point lead.

Gasol has tasted victory and he hasnt been as tough or as hungry this year.

Kobe, Fish & PJ need to remind him why the Lakers won last year, Gasol has to be willing to be the Lakers warrior and not the Grizzly softy.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Once again, we need a defensive coach.

I wonder who will be the head coach after this year. No offense to Phil, but I think he's done coaching. It took him this long to make the bench come alive, he can't control Kobe's shot selection, and he still likes to mess around with Bynum's role in the offense. The team is looking lethargic on defense and he couldn't motivate them. Getting a new coach might not solve all these problems, but has anyone noticed how Phil always run out of breath when he's doing interviews? At most I can see him coach one more year to try a 3 peat, other than that I don't see him returning.

Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

why does everyone keep comparing Kobe and Lebron. We all know Kobe is that dude right now. I never heard either one of thos eplayers compare themselves to each other at all. I always here all the fans put it out there like Lebron is trying to out beat Kobe and this and that. Lebron didn't say one time that he was better than Kobe cause he already knows Kobes holds the throne right now.

Kobe needs to show his leadership he displayed in 09 again, feed the ball to the post, move the ball, take good shots. Kobe can do that and did. So sick of his 30+ attempts on 3x% shooting, absolutely sickens me

ugly truth yeah +1

He wants our team to care? Try giving them some responsibility. AKA shots. The past few weeks they just pass to Kobe and watch. Pau's missing time early in the season completely screwed up the dynamic of this team. It gave Kobe the green light and he just hasn't adjusted.

kobe needs to own up to his share of the problems. too much chucking lately and it's even more pronounced with the bad hand. but there's plenty of blame to go around but i'm hoping to see the team come together in march and on...........when it counts and when phil's teams usually start playing well.
