2 attempts to trade up before the draft.
1) Flynn, Jazz pick(possibly) for Pacers pick(4-7)
If Rubio tells Kahn in Feb, that he wants to join us in 2011, Flynn becomes a trade asset IMO. We can live with Sessions for a year. Indy needs a PG, there's not too many worthy PGs aside from Wall, I'd throw in Jazz pick if Bird gets stubborn.
2) Bobcats pick and Pekovic fo 2010 Knicks pick. (only if current draft positions don't change much from now).
Utah will probably lose Boozer. Pekovic may be an interesting player for them, they run a lot of pick'n'roll and that's Pek's bread'n'butter, he may be a cheaper replacement for Boozer, he will fit great with other euro players on the team.
Toughts?

Who do you want to target? Which player that is.

Indy pick- Aldrich, Johson, or Favors if he falls.
Kincks pick- who ever is there out of Aldrich, Johnson, Henry, Sanders, Whiteside.
I need a shotblocker/center and a shooting wing.

Re: 2 attempts to trade up before the draft.
Is it better to trade up for a shot blocker or pick one? We could reasonably get Larry Sanders and/or Alabi with Utah and Charlotte's pick. Or we could trade up Utah and Charlotte's pick and get Udoh. I guess it depends on if Utah squeeks in at #8 or not. But I feel pretty confident that Pekovic would be a top 10 pick in this years draft himself. Maybe you don't value him that much. Personally, I'd rather take BPA with our pick, Larry Sanders an Paul George with Charlotte/Utah (assuming they are there, most have them available).

I think a lot will depend upon whether we get the utah/bobcats pick. If we get them both, we have ammo to move up and target a guy we want. Pekovic is the best trade bait option as well.
I think Corey Brewer is even a trade option, if we land a guy like Turner/Johnson early. Maybe not though.

I would also explore a possibility of trading that Knicks pick to Clippers for the return of our pick.

interesting idea.
I wouldn't mind getting that clippers back either.
I really hope we aren't a bottom 10 team when that pick has to go to them.

How you know that Rubio will tell something to Kahn this Feb?

Re: 2 attempts to trade up before the draft.
I think Kahn will have a ton of ability to move up in the draft.
There are a lot of factors though...
1.) what will our pick be, if we are in the position to get a wall or Turner, it will make things a lot easier. if we aren't, and Kahn loves Turner ( which you gotta think he does, for this team especially ) he can use pieces to move up and get him. Whether it's a current player, picks or prospects.
2. ) What draft picks we get ( utah, bobcats ) and where in the draft they are.
3. ) If we do get Wall, (god willing) then Kahn has a crap load of trade options. You can put Rubio, Flynn, and sessions all on the table. Likely you would keep sessions though as he's okay being a backup.
** I really don't want to add more than 2 rookies to our team next year. I'd just assume use our top pick ( top 3) likely on a player. Than package up the utah/cats pick and go after a guy we like. We also most likely have Pekovic coming over next year. So that would be essentially adding 3 rookies to our squad, and that doesn't factor in free agency or trades for expirings.
Things will work out, we just need some luck

Re: 2 attempts to trade up before the draft.
CHA wont finish higher than 7th in East...so that is 16th pick and if UTA makes it it will be around 18th-20th...assuming 15th, 16th,17th picks will be from Eastern teams.
So with lets say 16th and 20th...you could move somewhere around 10th possibly.

Re: 2 attempts to trade up before the draft.
I think moving up once would be enough to get someone nice. There's plenty of value for the later picks and the team doesn't need to spend decent resources getting a shotblocker who's going to be playing behind Love and/or Jefferson. If the team does look to move up I think it would be better to target another wing player, for example trading up to get Henry or Johnson after getting Turner.

Thoughts?
Interesting ideas. Its tough to do valuations now, since we not only don't know what the picks will be, but also we don't know what Flynn will look like by the end of the year.
However, in general, I like the first idea. If we assume that Flynn looks very good, but not like a superstar, and the pick is 4-7, I think that's about the right price. From a market perspective, the league got flooded with PG's in the last draft, MIN included, so the position loses some of its value. It takes a while to know how good PG's are (Deron Williams didn't look spectacular his first year), but it might be worth our while.
I have a tough time evaluating Pekovic. Right now, the Knicks pick is #9, and I'm not sure I'd make that swap. Then again, the Knicks just lost at home today by 50, so that pick may be improving.

Re: 2 attempts to trade up before the draft.
I wonder if other teams would value pekovic nearly as high as we might. He might be off a lot of teams radar, and his value may not spike up until he comes to the NBA and shows something.
I think that's our best bet to maximize his value, show him off in the league. Otherwise we may be selling short.
Kahn sure has a lot of things to work out this summer, and next year.

I think it was during that Thunder chat where Kahn basically said its highly unlikely Rubio comes over next season

Of course he may be defeating expectations so that when it happens and Rubio comes over next year, Kahn can say look what I did, I'm a wizard!
