Everyone has been thinking inside the Bosh/Lebron/Wade box, but Amare is probably better than Bosh. I didn't realize Miami could trade for Amare and still have 12-15 million under the cap to sign a 3rd star. Wade/Amare/(Gay or Johnson or Lebron)-

I want a raised cap figure for teams in cold climates - Boston, Toronto, Minnesota - Miami, L.A., Phoenix always have an advantage pursuing free agents.

Re: Stoudemire in Boston, do NOT trade Perk for him. It's easier to find a no-defense scoring power forward than a legit defensive center with Perkins' upside and contract.

I really hope Danny does something in the next couple of weeks, I want a trade coup on par with the GPA summer-

About Cleveland - Phoenix already tried putting Amare and Shaq in the same line-up, and it didn't work there..

Cleveland had Ilgauskas large expiring to deal so they can make a move for a good player. Phoenix would probably want a prospect back rather than just another expiring deal.

Jamison still seems the likely target for the Cavs. That would make them a little scarier.

I would actually be willing to do Ray, KG & Giddens for Stoudemire, Richardson, Barbosa & Dudley. It may not make us better this year but it ensures that we are relevant for quite a while.

Yeah but when you trade KG you are trading the heart and soul of this team. This team right now and for next is better with KG than Amare. I'm a big amare fan but no one can match KG's unselfish and will to play hard every single night. I still say Ray Allen and whomever scals expiring plus draft picks gets er done fo sure.

1) There are a lot of other teams involved in trade talks for Amare. Almost all (if not all) of them can offer more than the Cavs.

2) Pau had a multi-year deal which the Grizz wanted to shed so they we're willing to make a deal for fifty cents on the dollar. Amare is essentially expiring so there is no reason for the Suns to deal an expiring for an expiring. Since the Suns don't have their pick this year there is also no reason for them to tank.

The Cavs just don't have anything to make the deal work.

The Cavs are always mentioned as in the mix for on the market PFs but they don't have the assets to get one like Amare. They need someone else's good lottery pick and some prospects to get good deals done.. they just don't have it.

The Cavs would use a 3rd team to facilitate a trade and provide the Suns with what they need.. You guys are looking at just the Cavs roster and looking at how it matches up with what the Suns are looking for...That's not how it would work most likely..

Because the Lakers are an LA team - and the Cavs are a CLEVELAND team. Have you been to Cleveland? Its not a nice place whereas LA is one of the richest and largest cities in the US.. Stern has ZERO interest in trying to find a way to keep Lebron in a nowhere town like Cleveland.

If the Cavs land Amare its all on them - I can promise you that. Stern wants Lebron in NY. Any trade to HURT the Cavs would be something he is behind..

The problem isn't really the fit between the Cavs and Suns, it's the fact that the Cavs just don't have enough very good young talent to put together a fair Amare offer. Bringing a 3rd team in isn't likely the change that fact because the 3rd team would still want equal value to Amare if they'd be giving up the pieces for him.

Now, bad trades happen quite frequently in the NBA so maybe the Cavs will luck out here and they do have expirings which are usually the common thing found in lop sided trades...but it's still a pretty huge long shot because the Cavs just don't have enough young talent.

I tend to agree with those calling the Bulls the best fit, though it seems like we all say that every time a stud big man becomes available and they never get the big.

But it doesn't change the list of assets that you have to acquire a player like Amare. The problem the Cav's have is their trade asset is a veteran big with an expiring contract and a decent young PF of undetermined value. Your pick is worthless and you don't have anyway to get the Suns under the tax. More importantly why is any team going to want to help the Cav's get Amare?

PHX is going to want top young talent, and some way to slash 4 mil off their pay roll. The problem is the team getting Amare has to be attractive enough to keep him. I think the deal that goes down will be filled with irony, with the Bulls finally getting a deal done. The Suns will get Luol Deng who they pissed away to get into FA, and Thomas or Naoh and the Bulls first. Of course it would be a lot easier deal if they had kept Lamarcus Aldridge. That way the Suns replace Amare's production with Deng on a much friendlier contract if its Noah then they also have likely solved their tax problem the Bulls also have two trade exceptions of 1.7 mil and 1.9 mil so they can take on Dudley. I don't think the Suns can win a title with that team but they can make the playoffs.

The Bulls can pair Rose and Amare and still be in a position to clear another max deal or close to it in the off season.
