Question about Rasual Butler
How is his defense? Is he a good, average, below average, or bad defender? Just curious...

In my opinion, I'd say he is a good defender. Meaning he has a good balance of speed and length to stop opposition. His downside is that he is skinny, so stronger guys can bully through him.

I agree with the above. He is a solid on-ball defender with his length and athleticism, doesn't gamble and also plays pretty nice team defence. Overall Rasual is a very good role player to have on your team. Can run on the break well, hit jumpshots and play defence. A solid player but thats it.

Good cuz I was wondering how you would feel about a Ginobili for Camby and Butler trade? We desperately need another shot blocker to solidify our front court and a competent backup SF who can defend reasonably well..Ginobili is an expiring as is Camby and Butler but I've been hearing talks that involve wanting to move Camby so...

Not a Chance the Clips give the Spurs Butler & Camby!! You want Camby, we don't want washed up Manu and for you suggest we throw in Butler??? Are you High???

Re: Question about Rasual Butler
Yeah, I have to agree. A trade between Camby and Butler for Ginobli is a bit lopsided. Also considering the fact that the two are in our starting line up and Ginobli is a 6th man (Although more than capable of being a starter).
Similarly, our SF is our weakest position, so giving up Butler would be a huge dent. That would leave us with Thornton as our starting SF. While Thornton is a good 6th man, he does not mesh well with the starters.

Really like Butler he has laid down the blue-print for what the Clippers need to look for this offseason from the SF spot defender that can shoot the 3 ball

Would you reconsider if we threw Blair into the mix?

Well, if you throw in Blair, that changes things. Of course I'd do it. But the Spurs never would.

Blair is over rated. He gets a lot of hype because he was picked so late in the draft and everyone wants to call him a steal.
But what do I know? I think the Clippers should start Thornton over Butler.

Something's got to change and Blair is a big reason for that..His defensive shortcomings are too large to ignore especially in a team that historically prides itself on defense..One of Bonner, Blair, and Dyess has got to go and it's only logical that Blair has the most trade value out of all of them which will be crucial in snagging us that one missing piece to the puzzle..

I think Thornton could be a better individual player than Butler, but he just hasn't shown it this season. Butler spreads the floor and plays more in tune/flow with the rest of the guys (Baron, EJ, Camby & Kaman). Butler with those 4 actually have a great record when they start together, but the problem is that they've only done it 14 times (they've won 11 of them).
